Meet Francisco Lopez of Lopez & Diaz Accounting

Today we’d like to introduce you to Francisco Lopez.

Hi Francisco, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story, Frank Lopez, begins working with my father in his mechanic shop. When he came from Mexico, he opened a mechanic shop in Pasadena and I would come work there after school and on the weekends. My parents encouraged us (the youngest of 4) to go to college and pursue careers away from physically demanding labor. After many years in the accounting industry and looking back into the years I spent working with my father, I have realized he worked long and draining hours for rates that should have been adjusted to match with the market. My partner Anna Diaz is actually the daughter of my father’s best friend. Growing up we would be in each other’s lives as a background character. But it is her passion and understanding that makes her a great partner. She understands opening a business is a great first step but you need to understand cost, profit margins and to not sell yourself short of your talent and skill.

We were raised by a generation of hardworking individuals that focused on providing for their families. We understand that world but we want to provide the knowledge to those business owners that they can improve their operations with small changes.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We would say organizing the company, filing the proper documents and setup of the software was the smooth road but marketing has taken us out of our comfort zone. Both of us being analytical mindset makes creativity a difficult task. I loved playing with Legos and coloring books, but I followed the instructions provided in the sets. So the ability to come up with creative advertisements to reach potential clients or approach individuals and offer our services to solve any issues they are facing is a challenge. But over time I have met wonderful peers and built relationships with individuals that have shown me how to overcome the obstacles. They have shown me that growing a company you have to learn to get comfortable in uncomfortable situations.

We’ve been impressed with Lopez & Diaz Accounting, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Our company is a minority and female own business that specializes in accounting, bookkeeping, payroll and tax services for individuals and small business. We go the extra mile in helping our clients understand their financial and tax reports and help them plan for the future to help them grow the business. We have also introduced clients to each other to help foster a network opportunity for each of the clients. We offer a personal touch to our clients because we want our clients to know we want them to grow and accomplish their goals. We enjoy seeing our clients become independent business owners.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
We believe we have been blessed with some good luck because of the people we have surrounded ourselves with has created a great foundation and networking. My wife graduating from Yes Prep created a link to the amazing marketing team that we utilize. We have both maintained friendships that have led to business introductions that have grown to us managing their accounting records. We have been lucky with the relationships we have created and communication we foster throughout our daily lives.
