Today we’d like to introduce you to Faridah McBride.
Hi Faridah, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m Faridah McBride, a Houston native-born in the Third Ward community. I have a background in education, sales, international cook, photography, and media creation. My family is culturally diverse; I’m a proud African American Muslim woman. I’m a homeschooling single mother with three exceptional children who aid in running the brands. I’ve empowered women in business mentally, financially, physically, and spiritually—a moderator of the Texas Black Business Women group via Facebook. I love supporting the arts in my free time. I’m a performing poet and speaker, from Improv stages to MATCH theater. I’ve done shows since my teenage years, and I am thankful for growing up in Houstons’ art culture. I love cooking and ethnic foods. I’m always looking to grow our team and clients globally on our virtual platforms. The goal is to take care of the women who are the center of brands and home businesses. One main goal is owning upscale empowerment centers that offer a full range of resources, content training, lifestyle skills, styling, networking, counseling, and coaching.
Our Growth
Our prior growth is from authenticity; women need relatable support systems. A proper plan of action is always one area we teach and actively practice. We are in the community outreach and online activity from YouTube to our website. Our virtual door is always open. I firmly believe that we as women can have it all with the right tools, support systems, and training. We are reachable for a free consultation at Fashioned-iman.com.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a reasonably smooth road?
Being born into a family-centered Houston community outreach work, religious work, and entrepreneurship business is in my blood. The road was paved for me, more so than others. For that, I’m always grateful! One of the most challenging times was going through my divorce while pregnant. I had to continuously self-fund my business, all while working and studying. Womanhood was my strength, curse, and cure. A reminder that I had to fight for women like myself and plan accordingly. Another struggle was navigating as an African American Sunni Muslim woman. We have business ethics, style, and essence tied to our religious backgrounds, such as doing business without interest or navigating loan Halal processes. Halal-based funding options are becoming more available to American Muslims, thankfully. I keep up with all those business nuances for myself and others to place into a database shortly. I will always be laying a brick foundation for the women right behind me. In 2020, navigating through Covid; with a primarily virtual brand was an issue. People rarely wanted more virtual sessions since clients had to work or study online all day. Instead of pushing sales, I focused on our coaching and free support. I launched our photography sister brand Photography by Faridah and the Motivational Meetup Event. As many business owners did in 2020, I had to make sacrifices and debate closing down or keep going. I worked harder than ever, even when the results didn’t reach my goals. The road isn’t smoother, and I’m just a better driver. I celebrate any small business still standing or born during this time.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Fashioned by Faith-Iman?
First off, I’ve been virtual for over six years. Which is fantastic, learning and teaching woman globally. We’ve rebranded in the last year, seeking new women-centered brands to work with and new clients. We are selective in some nuances and protective of brand cultures.

Our sister brand is Photography by Faridah, launched for women in Houston, offering headshots, branding, and content packages alongside our other services via Fashioned by Faith-Iman.
We just launched a private home studio and are currently our first entire photography content course.
I’m grateful to have come this far and for this opportunity. The one thousand women I’ve yet to service and support would be my number to “success”. I wish I could say I’m successful or proud; not so. One strength I’d shine a light on is creating everything from my website, business plans, e-magazine, event hosting, marketing, ideas, coaching, events, and content you see is from me 99% of the time. Even alongside my team, I’ll always be a hands-on type of owner.
What matters most to you?
Womanhood, my freedom, and my faith are golden to me. My femininity allows me emotional Intellect, a connection unmatched. My freedom, I’m a southern American woman with long roots in the Military, activism, and using one’s voice for a calling. My passion isn’t business it’s humanity and freedom. Financial freedom for women and the ability to move around whenever they want and not be subjected to an outdated, misogynistic, sexist society is freedom. To be mentally healthy and happy is freedom. Lastly, but most importantly, my faith. The brand, Fashioned by Faith-Iman, means to be Fashioned by one’s faith as the Lord has fashioned us. My faith is my fuel; it helps me overcome all fear and doubt.
