Today we’d like to introduce you to Mariah Kingsley.
Hi Mariah, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started writing when my father was dying. I was a stay at home mom and my focus was never on my career. I always wanted to be an author, but I never had the courage to pursue it. One of the last coherent conversations I had with my father he told me he wished I had followed my dreams. That night I began writing, When Forever Ends. I never dreamed I would publish it, but my aunt Teretta read it, and told me it was fabulous. She gave me the courage to publish.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road. We struggled with editing, finding my genre, and learning to market. I have been doing this for ten years and I learn something new all the time. It’s an evolution things change every day. With TikTok and all the other platforms, you are constantly marketing and learning.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I write love stories about strong women that fall in love with men that are supportive of their dreams. I write about murder mayhem. Espionage and love that never dies.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love the diversity here in Houston. I have lived here all my life and no matter where I have gone the food is always better in Houston!
