Today we’d like to introduce you to Zaidra James.
Hi Zaidra, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was born and raised in Jamaica and came to America at the age of 10. Growing up I always struggled to value and love the color of my skin and was laughed at and made fun of because of it. Instead of that bringing me down it slowly helped me open my eyes and see that I am one of a kind and there’s beauty and power in the color of my skin.
By the time I was in high school, my confidence was through the roof but I always remained humble no matter what. I always embraced every aspect of who I am as well as influenced others of all shades and backgrounds to do the same.
After moving to Texas and becoming a mother to my beautiful chocolate daughter. I have become a full-time influencer who will be starting my first podcast called “ Shades by Zdiamond “ where I will have women and men of all shades and backgrounds talk about life in their skin to help promote self-love and confidence, especially in the black community.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
So far my journey has been very bumpy. I still have to deal with constant criticism towards my dark skin tone, but I am so much more secure within myself and I have gained many opportunities.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a model as well as a social media influencer who promotes confidence, self-love, beauty, and so much more for younger women to look up to, especially in the black community. I am all about staying true to myself and embracing all aspects of who I am. I am also all about teaching everyone that your personality, skin tone, as well as everything that is considered a “flaw” is what makes you, you and we all need to embrace and love who we are.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I am an entrepreneur who is working on relaunching my clothing brand and am currently the owner of @zdiamondlash.co.
