Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelsey Jolly-Majstorovic.
Hi Kelsey, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Thank you! There is probably a lot, but to keep it simple I did not choose a mortgage on purpose. It just kind of happened and I am very happy it did. All the paths and things I thought I would do or where I’d be did not pan out. I graduated college with a Bachelor of Business Administration focused in Financed. After college, I had a hard time figuring out what I wanted to do. I eventually fell into a mortgage and have been there ever since!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I think it mirrors life. Never a straight path, full of challenges and interesting situations. I definitely had some great mentors along my journey which helped make the path clearer or smoother with their help. But, there have definitely been some challenges, setbacks and many lessons learned. One was learning to thrive under pressure and believe in myself regardless of what others believed or how new I was to an industry. I learned to not place limitations on myself while also learning to evaluate myself in better ways.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
First United Bank. I am a Loan Officer who originates residential mortgages. I would like to think what sets me and my team apart is our work ethic and the way we treat our clients. We believe in our product competitiveness, of course. But further than that, we believe in truly creating a caring experience for our clients and making sure they are valued and feel important. We are quick to communicate and offer creative solutions to loan hurdles.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
In life (and business) you definitely have to fall into good luck on some things or catch breaks to make it. I am a firm believer in that. I have been very blessed and privileged to be from a great family and great area to work and live in. The Woodlands is truly a unique place and I believe that with how I grew up, this definitely helped. In regards to luck, I follow the belief from a Roman philosopher named Seneca. He said, “Luck is what happens with preparation meets opportunity”. I have tried to train my mind to believe in preparation and hard work in the event and opportunity arises.
