Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Sorsby.
Jennifer, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I graduated from culinary school, and followed my degree up at the University of Houston. My career began working for an NBA player, then I moved onto restaurants, and finally a yacht company. I loved the fast-paced lifestyle of being a chef. Although after starting my family my priorities changed. I soon wanted to spend evenings with my 3 boys and husband, and this led me to venture out and start my own business. With the support of my husband, Texas Republic Kitchen was born! My business has changed over the years in my pursuit of finding the balance of being a working chef and a present mother, but within home personal chef services I have been able to make that dream a reality.
Has it been a smooth road?
Starting my own business has not been a smooth road. When I first started with catering, everything was great. But soon I was unable to keep up with the growing number of requests and growing number of people attending parties. This would seem like a good thing, but was overwhelming and conflicted with my family. I decided to change my concept to meal delivery. Again, everything went well at first, but soon trickled out. I was not pricing and representing myself as I deserved to be. Finally, learning my worth and spending a lot of time educating myself more about my business, I found my niche with in home personal chef services.

Texas Republic Kitchen offers in home personal chef services for busy families and couples that still desire quality food prepared professionally. With the growing amount of obligations on families from busy work schedules to after school practices, our goal is to help them still have a time together around the dinner table. We prepare a menu specifically for the family, grocery shop, and come into the home and prepare 4 meals with only the best ingredients, and using as many local products as possible, then label and leave everything ready to be heated and served. Menus can range from healthy to comfort, and diet specific menus are available. Texas Republic Kitchen also offers catered dinner parties and cooking classes. We specialize in wine pairing classes featuring Texas wines. We are proud to support Texas by utilizing the many proteins and produce our state has to offer. And love throwing a little South into our entrees! Texas Republic Kitchen treats each client as family and we operate with the utmost integrity, we have a great passion for food and love to share that with our clients.

Houston is an amazing city with great opportunities for chef entrepreneurs. There are many different areas to choose from within the city and in the surrounding areas to start your business.
