Today we’d like to introduce you to Antoinette Cage.
Hi Antoinette, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have always loved helping people get back to a happy place. My friends always laugh at me but simple things like getting my hair and nails done has always been my happy place. When the pandemic hit, I was hurt I couldn’t go to the hair salon to get my hair done and til this day I feel the same way. When the pandemic hit, I was still in school for my associates in Coding and Revenue Management. I had to show my son that you can finish school no matter what age you are. To some extent I’ve always had an interest in the beauty industry and I remember talking to my friend about the different things in beauty we wanted to try. The pandemic was an eye-opener, we will always need beauty products and services and people will go to whatever length to get them. When I started school, I took a teeth whitening class just to have an extra service to offer but after seeing the results and reactions I got from my models, I just knew I had found the first service for Elthenias Body Bar.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road at all. After deciding to go back to school for my esthetician hours, I ended up getting let go from my job. I had to go separate ways from the person I rented a space with. I had a guy friend who was also starting a business and I learned so much from him. I would help him with things like scheduling, communication with customers, and marketing. I saw how hard he worked on his business, both the ups and the downs. Although he’s younger than me, I look up to him and love his drive and determination. I remember during one of many conversations he told me how proud of me he was. That conversation with him was the push and motivation I needed to get back on track.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I offer affordable teeth whitening services to men and women ages 18 and over. My service is perfect for those who drink coffee, smokers or those who feel like they want a whiter smile. We all know a great smile is a huge confidence booster. I’m most proud of myself and the growth of my business. When my clients walk in, I make sure they feel welcomed. I want all of my clients to feel comfortable and confident that I’m going to take care of them. After their treatment, we also discuss ways to continue having that brighter smile. When my clients walk out, they are smiling so hard you would think they just won the lottery!. I think what sets me apart are my customer service skills. I follow up with EVERY customer to make sure they are still happy. This Summer I’m looking to add Brow Services (Tint,Henna and Microshading), and body waxing.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Something that a lot of people don’t know is that Elthenia is my grandmother’s name. So when things start getting rough and I feel like giving up, my angel ALWAYS steps in and reminds me to keep going. I’ll do whatever it takes to make her proud.
