Today we’d like to introduce you to Tavelyn Coleman.
Hi Tavelyn, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Growing up, my family was into natural healing and a holistic lifestyle. When I turned 18, I went to college and did what any other 18 would do. I left all the teaching i grew up with behind, as a result, I ended up with severe migraines, extreme hormonal imbalances, as well as a host of other medical issues. I took the teaching that I was raised with and the medical knowledge I gained during my college education, and healed myself so to say. Over time friends and family would come to me for herbal tea blends for their various issues. It wasn’t until the pandemic that I decided to open Kindred Healing.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This has definitely not been a smooth road. You will doubt yourself. You will have naysayer. You will definitely not know what you are doing sometimes, but it will get better. Having a good mentor, networking, and keeping up with the trends will make it slightly easier.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a clinical herbalist, which means that I use a scientific and medical approach when working with herbs to see how the body responds and what someone’s body needs to support its functions. I am mostly known for my herbal tea blends and herbal body products. I am most proud of how far I have come. It warms my heart when customers tell us they have been with us from the beginning and how amazed they are with us now. What sets us apart is the amount of detail and time we pour into each person. We strive on providing individualized and unique service to everyone.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up my family called me useless knowledge, because I knew anything about everything. I was always interested in different languages, religions, and cultures. In 5th grade I decided to teach myself Quechuan and went vegan for 3 years, as crazy as my phases where my family always supported me. My family and teacher never knew what to expect from me because I was always doing something out of the box. I definitely contribute my eccentric personality as a child to my success as an entrepreneur.
