Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle “Yaya” Moore.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hello!
Well, it all began at about 12 years old. My mom is a licensed cosmetologist as well and had a heavy clientele. She braided and did weaves quite a bit and began to suffer from Carpal tunnel. She was unaware I knew how to braid and asked me one day if I could help her. Of course, I could. I was honored. I skipped playing outside on a daily to help mama with her braid services, At 13 and 14 years old I was saving money and buying everything I desired. The passion only grew. From there I even began to braid hair at school. OFTEN. I graduated high school and enrolled in Beauty college, things weren’t moving fast enough so I enrolled at The University of Houston. From there my clientele grew tremendously. I worked sun up to sun down around my classes as much as I could. I still have a few clients I service from that very dorm room today. I had my son and returned back to cosmetology school and gained my Cosmetology license in 2013. Shortly after I married my husband and he asked me what did I want out of my business. I said to eventually own a hair company and a salon with 10 chairs. I have been full time behind the chair since March 2014. I now am the owner of Major Tresses ( High quality bundles), Major Girl Lashes and Major Miracles Hair Essentials. I love every day of it. While I am still currently pursuing the Salon Location I haven’t stopped and I won’t stop. I owe it ALL to God for blessing me with an amazing spouse that believes in me and my dreams and for giving me the drive and strength to keep pressing forward.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. I think anything worth having won’t be smooth or easy!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a licensed cosmetologist and consider myself an old-school stylist! My specialty is custom wigs and sew-ins. However, I do braids, natural hair, and locs as well. I take pride in being a well-rounded stylist. My clients don’t have to seek services from different stylists because I try and offer as much as I can!!!
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My husband is my lifelong business partner. Always has believed in me. Always has 100% supported me and given his energy to any project I bring forth.
My parents are amazing NONETHELESS.
My family ( including the queen that suggested me) purchase wigs, lashes, hair and drive miles and miles to have me service them.
I am blessed with an amazing support system.
