Rising Stars: Meet Malia Johnson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Malia Johnson.

Thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
It all started with the belly buds when I was pregnant with Malia back in 2017. I had her listen to a lot of old-school music & kid-appropriate jams while she was in the womb.

When she was about 6 months old, that’s when I realized that we had a “turn up” baby. But in the most innocent way! It was actually on my first Mother’s Day, we were at my brother’s house & they were playing music. She was on her daddy’s hip & of course, he’s bopping to the music & next thing I know, her little hand went up and she definitely vibing with the music. From then on, her love for music continued to grow and blossom into a love for dancing & entertaining. Aside from the belly buds, I have to say, she gets her love for music honestly thanks to her Dad & I.

Overall, apart from music, Malia has always had this magical energy about her. She’s been a happy little girl literally since day 1, to a point where even to this day it surprises people that she’s so happy and full of personality.

Now at 4 years old, we have her in ballet class where we’re hoping she can graduate into performing dance, even acting or singing. We’ve heard it so many times and we truly believe that she is a star just waiting for a moment to truly shine.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I’d say the biggest challenge would be finding the best place where she can exercise her talents. It’s one thing to know you’re raising a star, but do not know how to find those opportunities for her to really put the energy she has into…can be a little frustrating.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Malia is an upcoming star, artist, and unicorn..she’s all that and some!

Her specialty is making people smile and laugh. She’s known for the way she literally lights up the room, her dance moves & her “freestyle raps”.

Malia is most proud of her academic abilities. She’s only 4 & can identify several states on the map, spell and write her full name, spell some days of the week & much more.

What sets her apart from others is her ability to be both smart, confident, fashionable & talented w/ her own unique personality. Malia also has a very nurturing & loving spirit at such a young age.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success for Malia would look like, simply her just being herself.

In her 4-year-old world, she’d define it as— making herself and her parents proud by continuing to have brains, beauty and confidence. Being able to showcase her talent through music, dance, acting, and singing.
