Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle (Danny) Fitzgerald.
Danny, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
In June 2020, I decided to begin my entrepreneurial journey in order to build capital to start my own fashion/interior design business. Traveling became the norm for me. I visited Houston for the very first time in October for business that same year, and everything just felt like home. It felt like the environment I truly wanted and needed. I knew this was what I wanted so every day I wrote, spoke, and affirmed, “thank you and god I’m so happy and grateful now that I moved into my apartment by March”. I had no plan, no arrangements, no set date I just knew I would live in Houston by March. Fast forward to March 1, 2021, I moved into my apartment in Houston, TX. This bought me so much joy because not only was this manifested but it was also worked for. During the time of this move, I knew that my relationship with God was a priority, so I decided to take part in a 12-day purpose journey. We did an exercise trying to understand which path God wants us to take. We basically made a timeline backtracking from as far as we could remember up until today. During the process of my diagram, I quickly realized that everything in my life has always had some type of tie to art and fashion. Starting out with just simply drawing and then styling my dolls to falling in love with always shopping in thrift stores with my now deceased grandmother. Those 12 days made me realize how much I slept on my own potential and how tired I was sleeping. That night I started writing, ideas, plans, and my future for my fashion career. I’ve pretty much been educating and teaching myself, networking, and practicing with different styles and body shapes as far as fashion. Really been going with the flow of things and really stepping outside of my body to show my own creativity through my passion.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all and I really wouldn’t want it anyway because through every “struggle” there was an opportunity for me to learn/grow. My biggest downfall has been consistency and self-doubt. A lot of times it hasn’t always been easy for me to stay confident in my abilities even knowing my potential. Sometimes getting caught up in my thoughts and questioning why some things aren’t moving how I want them to when I want them to was also interfering.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in virtual personal styling, wardrobe revising, and home decorating. I just started to make handmade pieces, but I’m currently still educating myself in that field. I’m really known for not only being myself but using my style to stand out. I believe my story, where I come from sets me apart from others, the way I pay very close attention to detail, and my versatility.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
My favorite apps are shop look and Redecor. Shop look allows me to create designs of outfits for clients and even for myself. Redecor tests my ability to decorate homes and spaces really challenging me to step outside of my comfort zone to accommodate someone else’s likes. I usually watch TikTok to get knowledge on how to create content. I love TikTok because it’s easy to access and videos are pretty straightforward and quick.
