Meet Blake Richards

Today we’d like to introduce you to Blake Richards.

Hi Blake, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I originally started in the industry as a Dj/Producer (2012) exclusively focused on electronic dance music, as my age/experience progressed I became more interested in the production side of things and stuck with that field for about a year or so then eventually moved into a sheer opposite genre which was Rap.

Fast forward 2 years later (2014) I discover that I had a hidden talent! Writing, composing, and recording.

Before you know it, “B.Rich” was born. From that point, my success took over. My achievements started stacking up over the years.

In 2016, I linked with my cousin C4 (Owner/Operator Of Press Play Studios) and started only working with him as my sound engineer.

3-4 months later, I discovered another cousin in my family that happens to be a Grammy-winning engineer/producer (Billy Hume) and since then the rest is history! That’s when I decided to work with family only.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My journey has been the toughest route I’ve ever chosen to take in life…I’ve been through hell and back three times fold

Not only struggling with fighting to grab a plate at the table but also being able to continue my dreams for over 12 years without ever taking a break

Working multiple jobs, creating my own LLC, creating a publishing company, cutting my life budget to spend more on my music and dreams

There was one point at 20 years old when I chose to cut my grocery budget by 50% and allowed my car note, rent, and insurance to go back 1 month just so I could pay for promotion, studio time, instrumentals, and album art.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I Am B.Rich (Blake Richards)

A 24-Year-Old independent Songwriter & proud owner of Rich Coalition Music Publishing LLC

I not only scout for artists to pay for their studio time and projects but also publish, register, and legally copywrite all works created.

Separate to that, I have over 12 songs from my personal artistry, have been featured on “Cassidy’s” last project, been in over 3 Houston magazines, gathered over 130k streams naturally, and have 3 artists listed underneath my company (Random Chance, Camm, Ole Dude) and have broken the ice and have surpassed the industry standard of visuals thanks to Wolf Pack Visual Media

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I am all about taking a major risk.

For example:

I have taken so many risks that could have ruined my life multiple times.

From age 11-24 I’ve invested over 75k in my craft! I’ve drained my life savings 2 separate times.

I have almost lost my house, car, and job in order to stay on the route that kept me in the loop with the industry

At 20 I sold off most of my belongings and moved to Houston for 2 years thinking my “big break” would occur but the opposite happened.

I am a firm believer that risk is necessary in order to be successful.

And always remember failure is only an early attempt to success.
