Check Out Toni Lewis’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Toni Lewis.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Our journey initially began well over 15 years ago. Our firstborn daughter developed a severe case of eczema and it was a total nightmare. We went to doctor after doctor and specialist after specialist trying to find A medication or therapy that would help calm down the flare-ups.

After several years of not having a consistent solution, I started doing some research on my own to find a more natural approach, because the topical medication started to break down her skin, not to mention the harmful chemicals that they were made of.

I remember specifically asking a doctor about incorporating Natural by Butters such a Shea, Cocoa or mango. He gave me such a hard time about wanting to use natural ingredients.

Needless to say after that visit I went to my local health food store and purchased materials to make my first batch of what we now call soothing cream. And it worked like a charm, her skin begin to heal and repair itself.

Family members and friends got wind of how well her skin was doing and begin to ask if I can make jars of the cream for them, and of course I was happy to do so because it brought relief to many people whom had given up.

Eventually, I saw a need for soap and other bath and body care that did not have the harmful chemicals. Today that vision has become Royal Essence Total Body Care 🌺

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Initially, when I began it was merely to help my daughter and subsequent children which then parlayed into helping local friends and family. But in 2016 I took a big step and turn my passion into a business. The journey has definitely been rewarding but very difficult as well. I think the most difficult. Has definitely been trying to maneuver and stay afloat throughout the pandemic. We had to use a lot of creativity and pivoting our game plan.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I love to help people. My career has always reflected that. I was a social worker with the State of Texas for over a decade. I switched industries almost three years ago and now serve small businesses as an Economic Development partner and lending supervisor with an award-winning nonprofit. Essentially we connect businesses in marginalized communities with access to capital to help fund their business goals.
