Today we’d like to introduce you to Zarion Idlebird.
Hi Zarion, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Since I can remember, I’d say 4 or 5, I’ve always exercised my mind by creating words over instrumentals of my favorite song. I’d unknowingly switch out the parts of songs that I didn’t necessarily think fit to bend to my style. Eventually, it became second-hand nature to string together a song in my head before even writing it out. Fast forward to December 2017, and we’re at the beginning of a budding career unsure of where it’d take me. Me and my team walked in faith, dropping my first song, “Roc-A-Baby” online via SoundCloud, to which the rest is history.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Smooth. No, not at all. It’s somewhat of a needed given to go through the hoops to get the results you think should be waiting for you. I remember not being taken seriously by my peers along with my family. Naively I felt that since I loved music, that others would share my passion understandably. It’s something I struggle with even today but there is a keen awareness of it more so.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I make hip-hop music, but I’d say I’m just a complete creative. I love creating soundtracks to where I’m at in life and letting it serve as just that. A road map for others and myself. I’m known for being a great wordsmith and songwriter. I always try to stand out by delivering my message in the form of a movie score. If you can get the listener to experience it instinctively out of the body, then you’ve gifted them the joy of your passions.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Find what works for you. Me personally, I think networking is very much essential to connecting you with others and placing you where you need to be. We all want something, big or small so it’s key to find people who are like-minded and open to expanding continuously.
