Today we’d like to introduce you to Berkeley Holley with Holley & Company Interior Design.
Hi Berkeley, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always had a very creative and artistic side, expressing myself through dance, art, and even cosmetology at one point. I grew up intently watching my mother always changing and modernizing our childhood home with custom window treatments, pillows, and bedding. (I even created a two-story “home” out of a box for my hamster and made bedding and window treatments for it like she did!)
As I got older and unclear of my path, she helped guide me in the direction of design. While I was a student, it was pure luck landing a job in hospitality, where I had a full design team of amazing ladies that helped me through the next several years of design school, and I knew this was my calling. Luck was always on my side, with amazing opportunities always at my feet that helped me grow and gave me the experiences I needed to get ahead. I have been very fortunate to work with, and for some extremely talented designers who have taught me so much and helped mold me into the designer I am today.
Over the last 15 years, I’ve built a career in interior design, working my way up from purchasing to owning my own company; working on projects ranging from luxury hotels all over, to focusing on the restaurant and bar scene here in Houston, TX, and now designing high -end residences nationwide; from New England to California. I am very grateful for my mom who I feel has instilled this thread of passion in me, thankful for my past experiences and very fortunate to get to do this every day! We are very excited to see what the future holds for us!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been an experience! With every job you grow, you learn something new, you learn what works, and you learn what not to do again. The “not to do’s” are the hard part, and sometimes can be costly. Through the years, I’ve lost clients, I’ve fired clients, I’ve had to swallow my pride and eat some costly mistakes. But as with anything, these are instances that help you constantly grow as a person, as a business owner, and as a company.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Here at Holley & Company, we specialize in approachable luxury that is influenced by a lifelong love of fabrics, texture, art and color. With extensive experience and background in hospitality, restaurant and home design, it doesn’t matter if you are looking for a room refresher, to completely revamp your style with a remodel or furnishings, or build your new dream home, we are here to help.
We create unfussy livable interiors that are classic in nature but remain fresh by the unapologetic mix of contemporary art and furnishings with collected items. We focus on our client’s needs and desires, remaining adaptable and open-minded to new design styles and ideas with no influence of a preferred style.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
At Holley & Company, we take pride in having such an amazing team that we count on to make every job a success, from in house, to our contractors, vendors and especially our clients and we are so grateful for each and every one of them. We have come a long way over the last couple of years, expanding slowly, and we are looking very forward to what we have planned for the upcoming future – so stay tuned!
