Daily Inspiration: Meet Sunny Moza

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sunny Moza.

Hi Sunny, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was born in India and came to the US as a teenager. While I was really good at academics with straight A’s, I always had a strong inclination toward performing arts. After I got my Master’s Degree in Computer Engineering, I pursued a technical job and in parallel, continued making films, and acting in theater plays and short films, which I started early during my college.

One thing led to another and today, I’ve done 3 feature films, hosted TV shows and 1000’s of live events. It feels good when people refer to me as America’s Best Desi MC (Desi means of Indian origin).

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Life is full of challenges. And the biggest ones usually arise from within. An example being self-doubt. “Am I good enough?” “Will the audience like my performance?” “What if I mess up?”. Doubts like these usually inspire me to work harder. My mantra is to put your head down, do your best work, and let the rest take care of itself.

Having said that, I do feel very fortunate to be able to do what I like to do. And I thank God for everything He has given me and also for what He has not.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m the classic case of jack-of-all-trades, but primarily I’m an Actor and MC/Host. I’ve done over 100 theater plays and short films. In addition, I’ve acted in three Indian feature films – Babru (Kannada – Available on Amazon Prime), Songs of Silence (Punjabi – Nominated for Best Actor by PTC Punjabi), and Kaaya (Hindi – not released yet).

I’ve hosted (MC) some of the biggest Bollywood concerts and corporate events across the US and Canada. I love it because in addition to entertaining the audience, I get to interact and share the stage with the likes of Magic Johnson, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Nobel Laureates, and A-list Indian stars like Salman Khan, Arijit Singh, Shreya Ghoshal, Akshay Kumar, Madhuri Dixit, Saif Ali Khan, and many more.

I also MC private events like wedding receptions, anniversaries, and milestone birthdays all over the US. And I’ve MC’d corporate events for companies like Facebook/Meta, Palo Alto Networks, ServiceNow, Nisum, and many more.

My USP is my subtle humor which enables me to connect with the audience of all ages and backgrounds,

I’ve received 100’s of positive reviews and video testimonials. Here are a few of them verbatim:
“Sunny Moza is a one-man entertainer. Such a talented artist, host and RJ. Was amazed to see him performing and entertaining such a large group of people. Great personality.”

“He is good-looking, stylish, funny and super energetic!”

“He can keep people laughing and get the crowd going!”

“He is very confident and comfortable communicating with both adults as well as kids. He has a great sense of humor & engages the audience very well.”

“He is not just an MC, but an actor, entertainer, singer, fashion show model and what not. He took our recent convention to a new level with his energy and entertainment.”

“I have seen him host mega-celebrity events as well as small community events and every time he has amazed me and the audience with his presence of mind, interactions with the audience, jokes, and witty comments!”

“Sunny was a star – not just an emcee during NIT Rourkela Overseas Alumni Convention”

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I hope to be a better version of myself today than what I was yesterday. That’s why I’m always open to changing my mind based on the new knowledge that I gain.

Here are a few of my favorite books which have enhanced my perspectives in life:
* Master Lives, Many Masters by Dr. Brian Weiss
* Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramhansa Yogananda
* 1984 by George Orwell

The app that I probably use the most is the note-taking app – Evernote. It syncs the notes seamlessly between the phone and the laptop, which I find very useful.

And of course YouTube! It’s a great resource for byte-sized knowledge, entertainment, and for sharing your work. For example, I did a Bollywood flashmob at the base of the Grand Canyon when I randomly met some strangers on my Rim-to-Rim hike. I posted the video on YouTube – https://youtu.be/I1zFv4eju1M

And I listen to a bunch of random podcasts, but if I had to pick one, I’d say Joe Rogan’s podcast has some amazing guests and I like their long-form discussion format.
