Hidden Gems: Meet Madison Bush of Olive and Bean Women’s Boutique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Madison Bush.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Madison Bush, owner of Olive and Bean Women’s Boutique. Seven-year-old me is squealing with excitement just saying that. Building this business has been a lifelong dream that is finally coming to fruition.

I am a Texas A&M graduate and former teacher. With the crazy Covid years, I felt my joy being stripped away in more ways than one- I think we all know the feeling. While children and education still take up a huge part of my heart, it was sadly time for me to take a break from that part of my life.

When my husband and I got the news we were moving to Houston, TX we were overcome with emotion and the possibility of a new opportunity shined bright in front of us. I decided to take a leap of faith.. it was time to open my heart and put my soul into my dreams. I could not do this without the love and support of my husband, Alex-thank you for embracing my dream.

This has been a long time coming and to say I am grateful is an understatement. At Olive and Bean, our goal is to inspire confidence in women of all ages- In my eyes, a good outfit can change my whole mood. Look good, feel good!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Smooth not so much. Scary, unpredictable, exciting, and emotional? YES. Leaving teaching was one of the hardest things I have ever done, my students meant and will forever mean the world to me so I hope that me pursuing my dream will inspire them to always chase theirs.

Owning and running a women’s clothing store has been something I have dreamt about since I was a little girl and now I am living that reality, how cool is that?

With any business, there will be obstacles and challenges, but you must adapt, overcome, and learn! Most days I feel every emotion you could possibly feel and I know other small business owners know exactly what I mean- we wear many hats and balancing all of them is a huge challenge of its own.

Luckily, I have a huge support system, my family and friends have encouraged, and been with me through this whole process. When I have doubts and feel overwhelmed, they are there to lift me back up.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Olive and Bean is a women’s boutique that aspires to promote confidence in women of all ages. In today’s world, social media has taken over and it is VERY easy to compare yourself to others. Unfortunately, this starts at a very young age and for a lot of people, the confidence and courage you had as a little girl start depleting. My goal is for my community to find their most confident self and embrace their beauty, inwardly and outwardly. I am a small business, but one day I hope to spread this dream far and wide. Everyone deserves to feel their best and as I like to say- Look good, feel good.

I take pride in the pieces I hand pick for my customers, at Olive and Bean we are all about quality pieces at an affordable price. We have items ranging from fun and flirty, all the way to professional, and work-appropriate that could of course go straight to happy hour!

I am so proud of this business and more than anything, I am proud that I took a huge leap of faith towards living my dream. I hope others will find the confidence to do the same.

How do you think about happiness?
So many things!!

Seeing people happy makes me happy. I am an enneagram type 2.. If you know, you know! This means I am a “helper” by nature. It brings me so much joy to make and see others happy.

My husband, Alex and our two amazing animals- Olive and Beans, make me the happiest person in the world. I am beyond blessed by our little family. Still not sure how I got so lucky to marry my kindergarten crush and start a wonderful life together.

My mom, dad, and brother bring me happiness, our little family of four has just about the strongest bond you could get. We actually all have matching tattoos and I think that’s pretty cool!

My bonus family that I married in to bring me happiness, I am so thankful for them welcoming me and making me a part of their own.

Finally, Olive and Bean Boutique makes me happy. Seeing others feel good and shine their light in our brand… nothing is cooler than that. I can’t wait for us to grow and see what we can do to bring happiness to others.
