Today we’d like to introduce you to Shaun Davis.
Shaun, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Basically, I was an underprivileged yet well-mannered kid who grew up in an apartment complex off Long Point Rd behind the flea market that has since been knocked down. My grandmother came here from England and my mother had me at 16 so family roots were scarce so a sense to adapt and survive came naturally. Cutting thru life’s twists and turns, including punk rocks hip hops, up and downs, addictions and other life struggles I somehow managed to leave the streets behind.
My unorthodox ability to hustle as a self-taught entrepreneur had eventually transformed me into a more outspoken version of the shy kid from the barrio. I am now the owner of a high-quality manufacturing and embellishment company, Caught In Customs, handling thousands of garments, hats and multiple retail and promotional products for businesses and brands alike. Built on a $3000 credit card cash advance and a dream, plus the support of those around me, that money was quickly flipped and reflipped into a company built without a college degree, loan or debt. I had hidden among my peers as merely a simple trade printer and manufacturer when in reality the desire to move forward as a designer was held beneath building the company, client deadlines and a will to succeed as a trusted business owner.
Although my ambition to leave where I came from and strive financially was a pure motive, the fashion industry and mainly the clothing itself was always my passion since I was a kid. I have now begun my journey as Shaun Tristan, a fashion designer, a brand consultant, developer and fashion industry professional.
Caught In Customs – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Caught In Customs specializes in manufacturing high quality, retail ready garments, and accessories. I am proud of my company because we have built it from scratch, we truly care about the product, quality control, and clients. This is our life. 25/8. Literally.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Every Friday when I write payroll I am proud to be able to do that for not only myself but my friends, family, and employees.
