Today we’d like to introduce you to Randyman.
Hi Randyman, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisana to a single parent Valerie Bibbins Major. As a kid, I was always into music and that meant listening to playing musical instruments. The first instrument I ever played was the snare drum. Thanks to the musical genius, drummer, and family friend Dwight Richards. As I became older, It wasn’t until middle school I would then start writing rap lyrics. I had this thing whereas I could never write in a comfortable atmosphere. I would do things like close the air vents in my room, sit in a corner and then write. It sometimes would go even further and I would get into my closet, turn on the light and close the door and sweat. This is where I would create my best work. As time moved on, I later joined music labels and would perform at different open mic nights. We would then begin to create a name for ourselves until it was all ended when hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans and left everyone needed to evacuate. I left New Orleans and moved to Atlanta. This is where I would then come to terms of creating my own music label World Jam Music Group. I, later on, moved away from Atlanta and moved out to Houston, Texas. From there I soaked up the lifestyle and the culture of hip hop. I became an avid listener to chop and screwed music. I would later go on to release music that can be found on all streaming platforms.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road for me and to be honest I’m glad it hasn’t because at the end of the day it only made me stronger. I learned more from my mistakes and to this day that’s something I can carry with me. The hardest for me was losing my little cousin Adolph Grimes on New Years’ day. He was mistakingly killed by the police. This definitely took my mind.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I wear many hats. I’m a Computer Engineer, Social Media Marketing Manager, Recording Artist, and a CEO of a Record Label.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
