Today we’d like to introduce you to Syreeta O. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Combining the beauty of Beyoncé, the ability to rap as good as any of her male counterparts and singing vocals with the perfect blend that fuels rapper / singer / songwriter Syreeta O’s cutting-edge music. Born in West Philly, Syreeta, the middle child of a family that consists of eight children, grew up listening to the music that her five brothers. She gravitated to the music at a young age, which included Jay Z, 2Pac, Jadakiss and Beanie Sigel, just to name a few. At the tender age of nine, Syreeta began rapping and writing full-fledged songs as a therapeutic way of coping with the challenges she and her family faced during childhood. After facing a number of challenges and many broken promises, Syreeta was on the verge of giving up on her dream until a chance encounter on social media changed her fate. Sherm Byers, an industry veteran and longtime associate of Millionz, identified Syreeta as an up & coming artist and referred her to Millionz and singer/songwriter Sydne “STRBABY” George in an effort to develop her sound. Now – fully equipped with a Jeremiah-assisted song, Drake producer BlaqNMild in tow, as well as a club anthem “Pretty Girl Gang” making serious waves off her debut project “TNF” (Trap Niggas Fantasy). In addition, Syreeta made her festival debut at Houston’s Summer Jam Headlined by MoneyBagg Yo / Latto & delivered a Fantastic Performance – Syreeta O has “The IT Factor” to hold her own with hip-hop’s leading ladies and set the world on fire!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road whatsoever! This industry is full of a lot of highs and lows, a lot of empty promises, a lot of people who say they can do something for your career knowing they can’t, a lot of ego driven people who won’t help you get further unless you’re paying them or sleeping with them. So no, it hasn’t been smooth but through it all I kept my faith in God and knew it would work out because I was born to do this!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I identify as an artist, the female Drake to be exact, I rap, I sing, I’m a songwriter, and I’m an actress. What sets me apart is how I grew up, I grew up in the hood but I went to private school so I’m very grounded but I was exposed to so many different people, cultures and walks of life so you hear that in my music, I’m very diverse, I can take you from Liberia to West Philly with my music and you’ll love every minute of the ride. I’m most proud of my work ethic and my ability to create and think outside of the box, it’s not a gift I take for granted I can write a song about anything, any topic, any genre for any crowd.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
That I’m a homebody and a nerd! A lot of people see me perform or hear my music and they think I’m this super turn up party girl and don’t get me wrong I love to have fun and travel and go yachting and sip champagne with my baddies but I’m really happiest when I’m home with my family cooking and when You see me locked in a corner in my phone people may assume I’m trolling the gram but 9 times out of 10 I’m playing a word game or reading some random article about an artifact found in Egypt somewhere.
