Today we’d like to introduce you to Mikal Jones.
Hi Mikal, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started producing music, mainly hip hop in 2019 full time and have been producing for many artists all over the globe since. Working with artists from Las Vegas to New York, to Australia and The UK, trying to bring together many ears and sounds.
Born in Atlanta and moved to Houston as a kid, the south is ingrained in me and I use the experiences and taste of the south in my music.
I DJ as well and play gigs here and there around Houston and other cities. For example, I may be up in Seattle this Halloween for a show up there.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Many road bumps come with being an independent artist/producer. One big challenge was the COVID-19 Pandemic. With venues shut down, no shows were being played, and that is crucial as an artist to get your music heard in a live setting in front of local listeners who may have not heard you before.
Other than the pandemic, it’s always a struggle to be 24 years old low on funds chasing a dream, but we shall overcome anything that comes to us!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a music producer and artist. As well as a DJ and have sole vocal work too.
I specialize mostly in the production of hip hop and am extremely proud that my music and the connections I have made through music have allowed me the opportunity to travel the country and meet amazing artists and friends ultimately.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Networking is so important, and being able to learn from any experience is crucial for anyone. You are never too old or experienced to learn.
Being a genuinely good person to those around you I think gets you farther than most. It’s simple really.
