Daily Inspiration: Meet Whitney Polk

Today we’d like to introduce you to Whitney Polk.

Whitney, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always loved to bake, just for fun mostly and because I have a sweet tooth! I decided to try something new with chocolate-dipped treats, posted a few pics and people loved them. Even when I noticed my flaws, others saw something else and from there The Sugar Stick Treats was born!!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It’s been pretty fair, there are a lot of great bakers and treat makers here in Houston. I think the support from one another is what’s made it bearable through these trying times.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I create Sweet Treats such as Chocolate Dipped Pretzels, Rice Krispie Treats, Madeleines, etc. I also offer a few baked goodies like Cupcakes. I think I’m known for the neatness of my work because I am a bit of a perfectionist. I’m most proud of the outcome of every order I do. I sometimes worry about how I’ll execute the vision I have for an order onto the product, and most times, it’s better than I even expected!!

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
Houston is HOME!! I was Born and Raised here! I mostly love how anytime I’m anyway, I can’t wait to get back, because there’s no other city like it. We have just about everything!! What I like least about our city now is the traffic and overcrowding… we’ll save that conversation for another day.
