Today we’d like to introduce you to Hassan Hilliard.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
P3 Media, LLC is a digital media/development company created by Hassan Hilliard. The flagship concept under the company, “Qualified, The Podcast”, is a show based on creating high-value content and conversations for Black and BIPOC communities. The show’s intent is to be informing and entertaining, covering topics like social awareness, health and wellness, culture, business/entrepreneurship, art, and more.
As the show’s creator and host, I like to introduce my experiences and stories into the conversations with my guests and do so over the span of the episode catalog. I have a genuine interest in the conversation and an extensive list of experiences in many areas. Born and raised in Houston, TX, I was given the support to be vocal and creative at an early age. I grew up in Southeast Houston in the 1980s with a mixture of the ‘urban experience’ along with a unique standard of expectations from my family. I am a lifelong student of martial arts and influenced by an assortment of popular television shows during my childhood, I have a longstanding professional career in coaching/training and workforce development and have also lived abroad on two continents. I truly believe that never changing my aspiration on wanting to learn more and do more has taken me to places and events that have contributed to a unique melting pot of knowledge. Some examples are starting multiple business ventures, winning an entrepreneurial award (30 Under 30), participating in a host of juried art shows, having artwork published in nationally distributed books, and even producing two audiobooks amongst many other accomplishments.
With the success of the show, and in response to feedback received from the subscribership, I will be moving into live shows to provide an ‘edu-tainment’ experience. Event dates will be given soon. Moving into the live space stands as a testament of consistency and relationship building, as well as implementing a few strategies that I’ve talk about among my friends and supporters.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
By no means has it been a smooth road, but it has been manageable. I believe that all that I’ve done up to this point has conditioned me to be the businessman that I am today. I have learned through athletics how to push through adversity in order to accomplish a goal. I have learned through art critiques how to take rejection. I have learned through mismanaging businesses how to adjust my approach for better results. And I have even learned how to work through immense grief from life-changing events.
One of the biggest struggles was having to launch a podcast platform, in the beginning of a pandemic, with no built-in fanbase for the host and no proof of concept for the brand. Thinking back on the initiation of this, it was a very challenging task, but I really wanted to do something that would be a good project for myself (creatively) and also have a valuable contribution to the community in a direction that wasn’t gossipy or salacious.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I primarily specialize in podcast production and hosting. Under the LLC, I also consult for brand development strategies, vocal/audiobook production, and also photography/videography production. I have had interviews with boxing champions (Evander Holyfield, Reggie Johnson, DeMarcus Corley), real estate gurus, impactful entrepreneurs, and more. I feel that my living in America, Hong Kong, and the UK has given me lessons in social interactions that can only be achieved from cultural immersion. I believe this sets me apart from others. Other podcasters, other program managers, other trainers/coaches/consultants. ‘Opportunities over circumstances’ is what I advocate – I am a native of southside Houston, Texas. An odds beater and a mentor to some. But I am also, and firstly, a father to two great kids.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
