Today we’d like to introduce you to Melody Fraser.
Hi Melody, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Melody Fraser my husband and I proudly own Blissful Waters Float Center. We are currently on our third year being open in The Woodlands, TX. We started as a Two float room center offering floats and community classes for meditation. We now have Three float rooms, a contrast therapy room (infrared sauna and cold tub), and a Brain fitness room (brain tap technology on Revibe grounding chair) and multiple community classes. David Fraser my husband helps the mechanics of the float center while I run the day-to-day matters. We are a family business. We love putting our energy into something that is so beneficial to so many. Its what drives us daily to keep the balance of family and business.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I believe obstacles and challenges go along with the business. Getting Blissful Waters Float Center started was a huge endeavor. I had all my startup money stolen from a dishonest contractor. It was one fail after another. Banks saying no. I never gave up and we opened December 8, 2018. Two years after the expected date. Then Covid hit. I believe my previous challenges of opening prepared me and my husband for the challenges of the shutdown. We were gaining members. Helping combat vets overcome PTSD issues, young teens finding comfort in calm, showing our community the benefits of float therapy. Our client base was growing. I contacted a virologist and found out was needed to be essential and became essential for my clients getting off prescription meds. Floating was their medicine. Owning your own business especially a brick-and-mortar, you encounter challenges and obstacles daily. However, thru the mayhem and madness there are beautiful moments. My community is experiencing mental health challenges and I am glad we can be there for them. Providing tools for true “self-care”. Float therapy is a practice that can bring balance and calm. When I feel challenged, I take it to the tank, just like my clients.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Blissful Waters Float Center is a mind-body destination providing premium Floatation, Sensory Deprivation and Contrast Therapy in The Woodlands, Texas. Offering a place to restore and unplug from our hectic lives. No sound, light and no gravity. We recently added a third float room with starry lights on the ceiling. This room is a great choice for those who may be claustrophobic or nervous about closed spaces. It’s also a great room for these transitioning to sensory deprivation. All the rooms offer calm music and low lighting. The float rooms 8ft by 7ft. They have around 10 inches of Epsom salt-filled waters. The air, water and skin are meant to be the same temperature. The goal is to lose the feeling of your body as if you are floating space.
We also offer contrast therapy. The contrast room has a Sunlighten infrared sauna and cold tub for hot/cold therapy. Hot cold therapy is gaining popularity and helping many chronic pain sufferers. In the mind-body room we offer a service called Brain tap. Brain tap is a headset with lights in the ears that calm the nervous system and gentle lights on the eyes that help bring you into a hypnotic state ready for brain training. The programs include isochronic tones a powerfully effective tool designed to help people like you achieve balanced brainwave states that enhance the production of all the necessary neurotransmitters needed for optimal function of body and mind. We combine this therapy with a grounding vibrational chair to enhance the experience. Blissful Waters Float Center is a mind-body destination. Calm the mind and the body will follow
What’s next?
We just brought back our community classes of yoga Nidra and sound bath classes and Lucia light of Houston events in the mind boy room. Connecting with my clients and community by offering more group meditation classes. I also just started the Blissful Waters Wellness line offering quality adaptogens and performance mushrooms for better health. Nurturing the services we are providing is important and my focus for the future. My husband and I are preparing and planning the process of franchising Blissful Waters Float Center in the near future. We have had many inquiries on offering more locations so this is something we are looking forward to. For now, we currently have our Woodlands location open daily from 9am to 9pm.
