Today we’d like to introduce you to Isaac Sanchez.
Hi Isaac, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I always felt that I viewed the world from a different perspective. I felt that I noticed things that others would simply pass by. So, I began to take photos of the unseen to show everyone else what I saw. I started doing this back in 2017 but slowly began getting noticed throughout the years. And as time progressed, so did my work. My journey has been one of pure chance. I feel I’ve been lucky throughout the years to have my work noticed by an array of people. It’s gotten to the point that it has now been recognized internationally. When I began taking photos more seriously, I never really considered the extend that it would lead to. My goal was simply to show the world the beauty that lies within the everyday mundane. And even though I feel I still have ways to go, I’m extremely proud and grateful of where I am today.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I feel the road has been more of a dangerous hike, with an abundant of obstacles in the way. When I started trying to do this professionally, I wasn’t going anywhere. Really, the only people that knew of me and my work were friends and immediate family. Still, that didn’t steer me away from trying. I just kept going and going. But I was virtually a nobody for a couple of years actually. My online presence was almost nonexistent, and I had never made a sale. I believe I spent hundreds of dollars, while only making about $20 dollars back. Funny enough, those $2o dollars was about all I needed to motivate me to continue working on it. I believed in my work, and I wasn’t going to stop trying. So, I continued. And slowly I got recognized. I began to talk to more people, and my name started to get recognized. But it was always a constant struggle of falling down and getting back up again. And I will admit that there was plenty of times when I felt like quitting altogether. But there was always someone or something that helped me get through those dark times. Even to this day, there’s still always something that gets in the way of my dream. I suppose that’s just the byproduct of trying to do what you love. Still, even through all of that, I’ve gotten a chance to reach the mountaintop. And the view is beautiful. And I can confidently say that it has been worth it.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I like to consider myself an art-based photographer. By that, I mean that I like to take photos that can be as beautiful as a painting, and as abstract as a work of art. I have been asked a couple of times if the photos I’ve taken are actually photos. People are in disbelief sometimes to see such amazing colors and wonder in a photo. But that’s what I love to do. And that’s what I’ve been slowly getting recognized for. I love being creative with my photos. Even when I work with people, they allow me to be creative with them. And some of my best work has sprouted from that. The beauty of the person becomes a work of art on itself. And truthfully, that’s what I’m most proud of: my creativity. I don’t ever hold back any ideas and I’m always willing to try anything that comes to mind. Sometimes the image doesn’t always appear as I envisioned them, but other times they come out much better than anticipated. Regardless, I’m always thinking of new and creative ideas with my work. And I’ve reached a point where people trust what I do that they’re willing to go along with whatever shenanigans I have in mind. And I’d like to believe that’s what sets me apart from everyone else.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Personally, I would love to continue on this creative path that I’ve been on. I’m at a point where people are finally seeing the work that I’ve been doing all these years and it feels like it’s finally starting to be worthwhile. I’ve been collaborating with a lot more people and finally getting a chance to do some of the more creative ideas that I’ve had in the backburner for a while. My goal is to continue working and trying all these creative ideas I have while showcasing all the work I currently have. A dream of mine would be to have an entire gallery for my work, as well as a studio to be able to have a bit more freedom with my creativity. I would also love continuing working with more people and models. Really, anybody. I have this firm believe that everyone has beauty, it’s just a matter of finding the right angle. And I would love to be the person that finds it. Really, I have tons of ideas for the future, but for now, I’m taking it day by day because I’m hopeful that all my goals and aspirations will come true one day soon.
