Today we’d like to introduce you to Rehan Jalali.
Hi Rehan, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up in Houston and started playing football at Langham Creek High School. And if you know anything about Texas high school football, it’s a religion. The show and movie Friday Night Lights is based on it. So, there I was at 125 lbs. soaking wet with boots on going out for the football! Suffice it to say I got beat on and took a lot of hard hits in that Houston disrespectful heat! During my time playing football, I learned a valuable lesson. It’s not how hard you get hit but rather that you get up every single time and keep moving forward! My coach used to always say “get up son” and I did just that every time! Being the son of immigrant parents taught me that resiliency and never quit attitude.
From high school, I attended the University of Texas at Austin, where I started studying nutrition and food science. I was competing for the UT Powerlifting team as well at this point and doing well in competitions. I loved lifting weights and eating better to change and improve my body. Using powerlifting as a base, I started competing in bodybuilding, where I won the Mr. Texas and went onto nationals. I started realizing the importance of having a healthy body and started helping people train and improve their eating programs. Straight out of college, I went to work for EAS, a supplement company that also had a national magazine at the time called Muscle Media. What an experience I had there.
From developing products to writing articles for the magazines to being involved in a national body transformation contest, working with sports teams like the Denver Broncos and much more! I really started understanding fitness! After a short stint at Rexall sundown in Florida, my life changed by getting an opportunity to start a fitness company called BodyLogix in LA! So, I jumped in or burned the boats as they say and moved right to LA. Then one fateful day I got a call from someone who sounded a lot like Sly Stallone. I thought it was a prank and hung up on him. He called back and it was actually him! Yes, I was on the line with Rocky himself. He was starting a company called Instone and wanted my help. Well, I started working on his personal nutrition and he opened the doors of Hollywood for me! Best dude ever! After that, I started getting celebs ready for movies, TV shows, videos and events and started developing more products.
I wrote a few books as well including the best-selling “The Six Pack Diet Plan”. And I have a few more coming, including “The Super Hero Diet Plan”. I’ve had an office and headquarters in Beverly Hills for over 15 years. The fitness business has been good to me and allowed me to realize my dreams. I got to be a part of a few movies as well including “Bigger Stronger Faster”, “Rocky 6”, Batman vs Superman”, “Justice League”, “The Town”, “Rambo 4”, and many more! Feel so blessed to have the opportunity to transform bodies for the better! I regularly visit Houston where my family still resides and am grateful for those H-Town roots!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I believe that mindset and perception is the key when it comes to challenges. Perception is reality and I always try and perceive things In a positive way! I have an “overcome mentality”. I see obstacles or problems as opportunities. I see them as ways to grow, to improve, and to evolve. The greatest change and benefit usually comes out of the biggest challenges. I focus on the task at hand. I don’t overthink problems. I count my blessings. I’m truly eternally grateful. And I always look for solutions. Coming to LA without many contacts was a challenge. Everyone tried to talk me out of it. But I knew that with no risks comes no rewards. And I’m so happy I took that risk. It positively changed my life forever!
