Today we’d like to introduce you to Linda Rockwell.
Linda, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I think I got the love for makeup and taking care of my skin when I was probably 6 or 7 years old. My Aunt was one of the first woman that sold Avon. My grandmother was always putting things in my skin.
I loved it, all through our school. I wanted to be a hairdresser when I was 16 but, that got side tracked and then I was married and had a baby.
Then I had a salesperson in Neiman Marcus tell me I needed to be an Aesthetician!!!! I had to ask her “what is that?” I could not even spell or pronounce it.
I finally got around to being taught by a woman from Paris, and went to school and got a license.
I have worked for a famous Plastic Surgeon and Dermatologist in Los Angeles and they taught me so many procedures and things about the skin. I still educate myself as much as possible. It is a very day to day changing industry.
I love it I love my clients!
Has it been a smooth road?
No, it’s a hard industry, it’s highly competitive. I worked in spas and hated it. You have to be willing to give it you all and it’s hard. It takes a while to build your client base.
Everybody that becomes one thinks they are going to make a $100,000 in the first year that get out of school. That is not realistic thinking at all.
I have made a lot of money at it and been broke at times. You really have to love it and stick to it! It’s hard when you don’t have clients and any money.
So, let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Amazing Face Skin Spa story. Tell us more about the business.
Well, I think there are a lot of good estheticians out there. I offer experience of over 38 years. I specialize in sebaceous hyperplasia, Dermanplaning, Electrocoagulation. Micro needling, Microdermabrasion.
I do Galvanic facials! I think I have a great touch for massage and extraction. I have worked hard to hone these gifts I have had the chance to learn!
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Oh, I think it will take on all kind of new things, like medicine has.
Estheticians might even become Like dinosaurs! Lol
Bigger though is not necessarily better.
