Meet Alexis Seymour

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Seymour.

Alexis, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Young Alexis would be so proud of who I’ve become today. A fashion model. I remember being in elementary and I would cut up all of my old clothes and grab my hot glue gun and make little purses for my mother and family and even cut and create different “New” outfits. I had multiple lookbooks from magazines I would cut up of outfits I would put together.

I was finally able to put my visions to reality when I got my first job right after graduating high school early. I was able to afford clothes I dreamed of having and create mind-blowing outfits.

Once Covid hit and the city went on lockdown, I was trapped with my thoughts and ideas as long as online shopping and I LOVED IT. I was able to explore myself as an artist and creator and enjoy what I truly loved to do which was shop. Covid allowed me to explore social media as well. I have three brothers Andrew, Adam and Aaron. I would beg every last one of them to take my pictures when I would throw an outfit together and they helped out as much as they could until they got tired of it. I then invested in a Tripod with a Bluetooth camera remote clicker and started taking my own pictures and discovering my best angles. I knew I was doing something right when my pictures on my Instagram would go viral. I would get DMs from women and men about the details of my outfits and I truly enjoyed the attention and helping others out.

As much as I love being a model, it is very tough to keep your head up. People left and right judging your every angle. Getting turned down by photographers and agencies due to height or weight. I’ve learned a lot about being in this little piece of the fashion industry and I one day hope to run my own fashion show in my hometown of Houston Tx for women and men just like me who get turned down because of their height or weight.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not a smooth road. In the fashion industry, you have to stay dedicated. I do have a life outside of my Instagram modeling. I am in the field of Education. That means you leave the house before the sun comes up and you sometimes get home when the sun is already starting to go down. Its hard to continue to get content out for my Instagram followers and continue doing what I love the most on low energy. Once the weekend hit I just want to sleep in but I get my tail up and get dolled up, get my tripod and get to work.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Classroom Aide in education at an elementary school. I work one on one with students with challenging disabilities. After I leave the classroom, I go to Coach a Highschool cheer squad. After I leave the Mat, I am an Instagram Model until the sun goes down. I also assist small businesses on growing their business and I help design clothes and professionalize Instagram pages.

I am known for my hard work and professionalism. Once I start a project, I finish it strong. I am proud of all the connections I am making along the way. It is truly a blessing to have supportive parents and family and friends and brands that trust me with my skill and passion.

What sets me apart from others is I don’t tend to post my accomplishments. I’m kind of that “Hidden Gem” nobody knew about. I only let them see what I want them to see. Nobody except my household ever knows what I am truly doing behind the scenes and what blessing and achievement I have reached. I’m proud I never gave up.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t believe in luck. I believe in God and I believe what he has in store for me will always come to light when it is time and when he knows I am ready.
