Today we’d like to introduce you to Kalani Hernandez.
Hi Kalani, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m from an island in the Pacific Ocean named Guam. At a very young age, I have always enjoyed when my parents would photograph myself and my five other siblings. However, the moment I became a mother, the importance of pictures increased since the days go fast and my kids were only growing. Creating memories I’m able to look back on has always been important to me and that is when my husband purchased my first ever Canon. I began by taking monthly photos of my children as well as cake smash photos. Currently, I love to capture candid images, baby monthly images, and portraits. What I look forward to the most is for my clients to view the images in hopes they are able to feel all the emotions and passion that are radiating through the photos of the memory we created.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Up to this point, it has been a smooth road and for this, I am very fortunate because I believe that this environment has allowed me and my interest to grow exponentially.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I own a photography business named KH photography. I consider myself a natural light photographer. I typically capture portraits, baby and family photos. What I am most proud of is being able to create a memory for others they can cherish forever for themselves. I believe what sets me apart from others is the fact I adapt to my client’s wishes and expectations during sessions. I try my best to be versatile and I’m always open to trying new things to achieve my client’s goals.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
The advice I would offer to those starting out is don’t put too much pressure on yourself. Photography, just as in any art form, is an expression and there is no right or wrong way to do it. It is important to find your own lane and to pursue the type of photography that you enjoy the most. So simply do what you love and just dive into it.
