Today we’d like to introduce you to Z-Wells.
Z-Wells, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I always used to rap, sing, and dance with my younger cousin Dre (R.I.P.) in the house and took a liking to music around that time. I began actually recording music at the age of 11. I got to where am I at today by never giving up and being optimistic but realistic. I put in 10,000 hours, literally. I studied the legends who are in the space I dream to be in one day. I wrote things down and made a plan for the things that were most important to me. The most important key was believing in myself, that was the biggest factor in my journey.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My musical journey has had plenty of ups and downs. Being that music is such a personal art form, a lot of the struggles came from my personal life. Some of the struggles included people that I knew dying, losing friends, and relationships going sour. Some of the obstacles that had to do directly with music were my peers discouraging me while I chased my dream. That is something that comes with doing something outside or the norm. I had to have a strong mentality and lots of self-love to continue.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am Z-Wells, an artist, songwriter, and producer. I specialize is rapping, singing and creating great music. I’ve been known for those first two things basically my whole life, and hopefully the latter in more recent years. I’m most proud of my persistence and my originality. I’ve come a really long way from where I started. My taste and individuality set me apart from others. I like to let my art speak for itself. It’s not only about what you do but how you do it.
How do you think about happiness?
Being around genuine people, creating moments, good music, good food, and praying make me the happiest.
