Meet Joan Montreuil

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joan Montreuil.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
All of us find ourselves, at one time or another, facing where we are right now in life and asking, “How did I get here?” Whether it be by favor or failure, the key element is to understand that where we are today is solely by our daily choices.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Life contains natural conflict. Life is certainly not a smooth ride where everything goes according to expectations and plans. Nevertheless, when we hit the turbulence we can either get angry and fight it, or just let it be and continue to press our way and believe GOD for an awesome landing or outcome. But either way, the turbulence is there. We’re not the captain, we do not have control of what comes our way, but we can stay calm and be prepared to take it on when the turbulence comes.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a Therapeutic Screenwriter, Director, Author, and Film Editor just to name a few. “My desire has always been to produce therapeutic projects”. What is great about this craft is that therapeutic art is a great way to calm yourself and decrease stress levels. If you make regular time in your schedule for creativity, you’ll instantly start to see results in how you feel. Art is a powerful therapeutic resource and is no stranger to therapy and because you feel these kinds of results, your desire is to offer this awesome healing to the world we live in, a world that has so many questions and not enough answers. Storytelling has the power to heal the world and I believe God has gifted us with this craft to inspire, uplift, and give insight.

My motto is that “no story should go untold”. Art is meant to share stories of people from all walks of life; these stories are also a way of documenting our world cultures, and communities and preserving history. Any form of art I believe is therapeutic. Whether you are acting in a movie that is very emotional, singing on stage with amazing lyrics, or writing a script to promote unity in the world, all of it serves a purpose. Being a conscious writer, I love to take a problem and unravel it and create different forms of art from my lenses. Every writer sees the world and writes differently and is given the freedom to create art, let’s hope that we all can touch every part of the earth to make a difference in society.

Art matters because people matter; art is one of the best ways to gather individuals and build communities around a shared experience.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
“If you are working on something that you really care about, you don’t have to be pushed. The vision pulls you.” — Steve Jobs
