

Today we’d like to introduce you to LaShonda Johnson, CFED, and Toni Sanders.
The creation of the Houston Housewives of Finance began through an idea from Licensed Financial Professionals and Co-Founders LaShonda Johnson and Toni Sanders while on a business trip in January 2015. The week of events leading up to the trip consisted of a series of sessions with professional women who knew little to nothing about financial concepts and their personal finances.
A Facebook page was created to feed followers financial education daily. The brand was also to represent women in financial services. Relatable women who made mistakes with money, learned from it, became educated licensed professionals and are now helping others learn how to properly plan and manage their money. The brand was received well by its followers and took off immediately!
In late 2015, HHOF, Inc. was formed and officially launched in February 2016. The business plan included events, workshops, speaking engagements, and social media feeds to distribute financial education to the consumer. In addition, the brand would also be a place to help independent licensed professional women to grow their client base using such mediums. Within months the brand would expand to five cities and is now currently in eight.
Co-Founders, LaShonda Johnson and Toni Sanders were invited to disseminate financial education through partnerships with The Sphere Podcast Network, Synergy Radio Network, and Empower Magazine where the two have provided and produced content for over a year.
Fast forward to today, subsidiaries of HHOF are now in existence to reach targeted markets with Millennial$ and Money, Wealthy$ and Healthy, Men and Money, Secure Seniors, The College Cafe, and Athelet$ and Money. The Housewives of Finance Foundation, Inc., a 501 (c)(3) organization was also established the summer of 2017 to help enrich the lives of consumers through empowerment and education.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The journey has not been smooth. Co-Founders LaShonda Johnson and Toni Sanders have funded, supported, and grew the brand 100% from their own resources. A strong belief in the brand’s purpose and mission is the motivation to fight daily to promote its existence. Financial matters are not easy topics to discuss and consumers don’t like addressing financial matters. Our goal is to bring fun into finances and provide non-threatening environments for people to learn, explore and discuss finances. Trying to change the mindset of consumers and the structure of a traditional industry has presented its challenges.
Houston Housewives Of Finance – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
HHOF serves both the consumer and independent financial professionals.
We specialize in providing financial education, products, and services to the consumer. We deliver such education through social media, events, workshops, speaking engagements, radio, podcast and published articles. These forums are used to engage the consumer in the learning experience. Heightened awareness is the desired outcome to motivate the consumer to become a proactive participant in planning for their financial future.
Each of our Affiliates are Licensed Professionals who provide complimentary personal financial strategy sessions and solutions to those who desire. We are known for being a consistent resource for financial education and providing various types of fun events in the community for consumers to attend and enjoy the learning experience. Our methods to deliver our services to the consumer sets us apart from others.
As it relates to the independent financial professional, we specialize in providing means and methods for them to grow their client and agent base. Licensed professionals are able to utilize the brand, events, radio, podcast, and more to market their own personal practices and have resources to extend invites to potential clients. In addition, Affiliates receive coaching and mentorship on personal branding and marketing.
We are most proud of the personal growth that we have been able to foster in the Affiliates that work with us and the reputation and impact that we have in the communities which we serve.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
We personally define success by the individuals/families and financial professionals served. Every individual/family that receives education and or products and services through any of our methods of delivery is an accomplishment. Any financial professional that has experience personal growth and or business growth through a new client or prospective client is an accomplishment.
