Rising Stars: Meet Olesya Webb

Today we’d like to introduce you to Olesya Webb.

Hi Olesya, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My background was in Elite-level rhythmic gymnastics. Growing up I was constantly jumping, turning, and dancing all over the place. It seems fitting that years later after I was finished with gymnastics I transitioned to being an acrobat and a choreographer.

I absolutely love movement, and working with people who wish to learn more about moving their bodies in a functional way is my life’s calling. Whether I am cross-training a dance team or working with a Perinatal client, I am grateful that I was able to turn my passion into a business and career.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
NO! haha To create a name for myself in the industry I was working three different full-time jobs at one point.

I did do a tiny stint in corporate America working for a marketing company while cross-training junior athletes in the evenings and fulfilling contractual performing duties on the weekends. I was so focused on my end goal to the point where I was working 7 days a week with absolutely zero downtime. This resulted in burnout, which was a major challenge, especially when working in the wellness industry.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Today my work and business is very streamlined and for that I am thankful. You can find me at the studio in River Oaks, working with all types of clients. I work with professional athletes all the way from the Olympic level to juniors just starting out. I specialize in cross-training these athletes for injury-prevention purposes in a variety of sports like football, tennis, soccer, baseball, and of course gymnasts! It was been so fun to fuse my background in gymnastics and performing on the stage and my education to bring a unique twist on cross-training. It’s a combo of breathwork, yoga, Pilates and a little bit of watered down gymnastics conditioning.

As an athlete, I know how tough it can be to be sidelined because of an injury that’s why I am so passionate about my work. It’s a true honor helping my clients reach their dreams on and off the field (or court or track).

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My education mentors!

Working with the human body is a BIG responsibility and there is a lot of information out there. Some of the education is not so great and when working with high-level athletes, they cannot afford to be getting information that is less than. When starting out, I would say question everything you learn and seek out mentors that you trust.
