Conversations with Olasunkanmi Ogunade

Today we’d like to introduce you to Olasunkanmi Ogunade.

Hi Olasunkanmi, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Started the media production/Photography business back in Southeast Asia. Went to school to learn Photography and Lightning Principles. I grew on the job basically and every time I continued on that path, it kept getting better. Lots of financial setbacks as photography and film equipment are very pricy and pocket-draining. I managed to save with each and every minor gig I got, things kept getting better.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been tough and challenging. Acquiring equipment, building the client base, finding your own style, and a whole lot. Another issue is not finding companies or individuals to invest in your craft. Makes it difficult to expand and grow accordingly.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
An ultra-modern photographer and media producer. I create content and short films, and shoot tv commercials, and do digital marketing. I use elements to tell stories and evoke feelings. I use images to combat societal ills and bring about change. One of the latest issues we tackled was Online Bullying and body shaming. These images helped to tell these stories and influence perception. One of the things that makes me proud, is the ability to work towards my goals and change the mindset of people around me.
