Cynathia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have been an entrepreneur since 2015. I started my journey while in grad school at Belhaven University. I’ve always had a passion for helping others and I enjoy creating ways to do so and seeing my idea unfold. My first venture was in the financial industry. I currently own a company called, Key Assets Financial, where we help individuals and business owners with their taxes, accounting, and bookkeeping needs. I decided a year ago that I wanted to do something outside of the financial industry. I wanted to become more diverse in my entrepreneurial journey and stimulate the economy more. I wanted to create opportunities for single mother, retirees, people with disabilities, etc that needed a flexible schedule and still earn a decent income as well. This desire led me to opening Zoom Broom Cleaning Co. It is a cleaning company that services Short Term Rentals and Residences. It was honestly one of the best decisions I could have made. I have thoroughly enjoyed working directly with people from different walks of life. It has become more of a ministry to me than anything else. Those whom I work alongside have great attitudes, they take initiative, and they really want to see the company continue to grow. We have reached so many milestones in such a short amount of time that it is mind-blowing sometimes. As a whole, we understand that it definitely takes a team effort and everyone doing their individual part to make sure things run smoothly. I believe that is the beauty of our company! We all stick to our core values and we lean on each other. We have built a tight-knit environment and systems that are undeniably effective and efficient. The trajectory of the company thus far illustrates nothing short of continuous growth.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not! And I say that humbly. We have had many growing pains. As a business owner, I understand that it is always something to work on. It is always something that can be improved. Yesterday’s victory will not be today’s victory! We get much feedback from our clients because we understand that in the Short Term Rental Industry we are the bloodline of their business, therefore we make sure we keep that line of communication a priority and open at all times. Our job is to bring quality, cleanliness, and top-tier customer service. I try not to “marry” one system, if things need to change, we change it as many times as needed to make sure it is most efficient. Some of the struggles we have encountered along the way is hiring reliable and detailed cleaners. I believe hiring is a problem most businesses are having at this time though. However, we understand that it is the law of large numbers and that we have to go through to get to. Fortunately, we do have a solid team that has been with us from the beginning and is dedicated to the growth of the company. Another struggle I would have to highlight is making sure everyone is following policies and procedures. In a successful company, everyone is a unit and need to be on one accord. Everyone has a designated job to fulfill so it is important for everyone to understand their roles. You cannot be the missing piece in the puzzle due to a lack of knowledge. So we have implemented training sessions where we go over policies and procedures regularly to make sure everyone is working at their highest standard. I am almost certain as time goes on we will have to revisit client pricing and payment solutions, but as of now, we are okay in those areas.

Our company specializes in Short Term Rental Cleaning and we also service residences. What I would have to highlight about us is that I believe we are the only company in our area that dedicates a department just to Short Term Rentals. Most cleaning companies that I have researched do clean them but they do not have a team specifically dedicated to that industry. It is our niche. We currently service around 70+ STR units on a monthly basis between Mississippi and Houston, TX. for our rental owners. We have taken time to understand the pricing, the concepts, and the importance of making sure everything is decent and in order for every guest. It is hard work but we make it happen daily. I can’t say its just one thing that I am proud of with this company. I am sincerely proud of it all, everything as a whole. It’s amazing to have an idea in my mind and see it unfold and evolve before my eyes. I am blessed and I am proud to be a vessel. I believe I want readers to know that we are not another fly by night cleaning company, eventually, Zoom Broom will be a household name. We really take pride in what we do. We have complete systems that make certain your STR passes the standard for your guest.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Over the next few years, I see the cleaning industry becoming more and more necessary; especially since COVID. Cleaning is a need-based business and people not only need their house cleaned they desire luxury treatment and that is something we aim to provide. We want to become a household name and possibly eventually introduce some cleaning products to the market. We are really focused on building right now, solidifying what we have, and continuously growing. We don’t mind going slow to make sure we are making the best moves for the company and our team members.
