Today we’d like to introduce you to Cecily Gonzalez.
Hi Cecily, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was never the type who grew up knowing or striving to be an entrepreneur. Yet somehow, I found myself passionate about beauty.
In 2010 I completed cosmetology school, soon after, I jumped into my first job as a lash artist. I personally fell in love with the technique and the interaction I had with customers. It was extremely rewarding to know how lash extensions could give someone such confidence. And even more so, solving and helping people feel good with my personal touch. It meant the world.
The first step in my journey was a bit different. I ended up leaving the company I was working for and started my own startup. For me, I just thought about what problem I knew I could solve for people which led me to build a supportive client base. It didn’t happen overnight but all can come with building trust and relationships. So, even at a young age, I was invested.
Fast forward to today. I’ve been able to develop some core skills and I’m a big believer in continuous growth.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I’ve been fortunate enough to have a successful growing business and a strong growing team. But not everything in business is smooth. I like to compare my struggles to an Ocean of waves. Sometimes the waves that you ride are smooth, or you get hit and the waves knock you down.
But at the end of the day, it’s how you ride the waves.
With every mistake comes a learning experience and this is the only way I’ve grown and learned.
Most mistakes are correctable in business, as long as you don’t make the same mistake twice, this is the only way I’ve improved as a business owner. I’ve grown and learned from every mistake and experience.
