Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Perkins.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hi, my name is Angela Perkins, an actress, director and founder of Out The Ordinary Production in Houston, TX. How I got started, I was first introduced to acting over 10 years ago. I saw a casting notice on Facebook and at the time, my daughter was taking acting lessons. I reached out to the director about the role but was told my daughter was too young. A few days passed, the director (Darryl Wimbley) contacted me about the role but I wasn’t interested. He was persistent so I agreed to be in the play. From there, I met Tracey Bonner. She is the reason I’m still in the industry. As time went on, I became close to some actors, they were working with another production company. I was told about this director (Annie Johnson) and I went to audition for her and the rest is history. I was under her leadership for four years and decided I wanted to be a filmmaker. As of today, I have two short films and now “To Feel Loved” is a stage play.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road but I don’t regret anything I had to go thru to get to this point. Anytime you are elevating, you will have to be uncomfortable. You will have obstacles and roadblocks but that’s a part of the process.

Out The Ordinary is a Theatrical/Film Production company in Houston, Texas. We are dedicated to providing positive messages that will leave a meaningful impact on your life. With an unwavering focus on bringing quality performances in entertainment, we will provide heartwarming films and stage plays that change lives, inspire our viewer’s heart, and lift their spirits.
Angela’s first production titled To Feel Loved was scheduled to film in late March 2020, the same year she started her business, but was postponed by a Pandemic that hit the nation rapidly. Later in 2020, she decided to film the project. Angela’s first two short films were selected to several film festivals and won Best Family Short and a Silver and Gold Remi Award. She was ready to touch lives on a personal level by bringing live entertainment to stage. Her stage play, To Feel Loved was a success. She wants to personally thank Sandy Basey and Detrah Brown as writers on this project.
What set’s me apart is that Out The Ordinary Production believes that theater must represent the stories of the community it serves culturally and economically.

What matter to me is letting go of fear. By allowing yourself to remain fearful, you are succumbing to the world. You are doubting God’s truth and promises.
