Today we’d like to introduce you to Karishma Naidu.
Hi Karishma, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hi! My name is Karishma. I was born and raised in Mumbai, India and I am a real estate agent here in Houston, Texas. My passion for helping others started in my teen years when I first fell in love with fashion. What started out as having fun with family and friends, I began to really question if I had what it took to make this a career path. The excitement and glamour in fashion was something beyond dazzling to me. I loved the textures, sequences, patterns and ultimately, the smiles I was putting on people’s faces when they saw the transformation in the mirror. For others to believe my vision and look was one of the best compliments any stylist could ever ask for. As my business started to take off, I landed a key position in Bollywood which then kick-started a career as a fashion stylist to some of the biggest celebrities. As I continued to pursue my ambitions and goals, fate and Cupid happened to be on my side which led me to an introduction to my soon-to-be Husband. With a leap of faith, I left Mumbai and moved to Los Angeles, California on a new journey to continue what I loved to do. After arriving to the United States, I quickly took on projects in the corporate sector in high fashion retail. As I began to drive my success in a new country and environment, I chose to relocate to Houston, Texas in pursuit of creating my own fashion brand. I knew my hard work paid off when I bought my first Home at the age of 26. That feeling when I walked into that new home was overpowering. It brought me back to those teen years and I felt a rush of excitement and my gut was telling me it was time for a new chapter in my life. I knew my passion to help others had no limits as this now has led me to be in the top 5 social media real estate agents in Texas.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to success is never an easy one. If it was easy, then it wouldn’t be worth it, right? The challenges of changing your locale or in this case a whole new country was one of the most difficult times in my life. When I arrived in the US, people looked at me funny because I did not comprehend American currency. Or sometimes my British accent would throw people off. These little things reminded me of being away from home, and I think most people would not understand how emotionally draining that could be, especially as a young woman in a new place. It is uncomfortable being an outsider, even for an outgoing person like me. But, I consider myself a risk taker, the bold and curious one and I am happy to be who I am. Without taking this risk and changing my day-to-day life, I would not be here today telling my story. From sleepless nights, to overbookings, I always felt the need to keep driving in the right direction. I am such a workaholic that even my husband yelled at me when I returned to the office 10 days after giving birth! I can’t help it, my love for what I do is beyond words as much as I love my family…. it’s hard to explain. All of these challenges I faced made me who I am.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As a young creative thinker, I take pride in being in the “now”. Everything we do on a daily basis is about today and our efforts to make tomorrow better. As a top social media real estate agent, I like to be in front of the clients’ eyes constantly. This is an affirmation of my success! In today’s world, there is a need to be engaged at all times in a drastically changing market. I believe all my clients should have the knowledge, power, and information at their fingertips to make the best decision possible. I specialize in social media marketing in real estate, whether being for personal or business investments. With the market’s ever-changing dynamics these past few years, this is one tool I think everyone should have available to them.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was a troublemaker. I was always doing what I wanted, when I wanted to. I believed no one should ever be held back from trying to achieve something. Growing up in a traditional environment made me question a lot of things in life. I slowly transformed into someone who was willing to take a risk, regardless of reward or punishment. In all, I was fun-loving & a mischievous rebel.
