Today we’d like to introduce you to Jah Mitchell.
Jah, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have a strong passion for preserving those priceless moments of those first experiences in parenthood. I was a portrait photographer for many years. But, after having my first child, I realized how important it is to have high-quality images of those first moments as a parent. My degree in fashion and love for children was beneficial when it came to capturing those memorable, unique moments in those first years of parenthood.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting any new venture is filled with pressure. There are many talented photographers out there. It is also not easy having families trust you with their newborn. There is a lot of patience involved with these type of sessions. It also takes some time building your portfolio in a big city. There is a struggle along the way until you can build consistent clientele. You just have to persevere and believe in what you are doing.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Jah Mitchell Photography – what should we know?
My specialty is newborn photography. I am proudest when families see their finished galleries and are happy with their sessions knowing they will be able to treasure those moments. Also, when I am able to capture a child’s milestones from newborn. Makes me proud when I have returning clients that value my work enough to photograph from newborn, 6-month, & 1 yr old milestones. I am also proud of when I receive referrals. I believe my patience, attention to detail, flexibility to the moment of the session, and my passion for the perfect shot set me apart.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Love of motherhood.
