Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaijah Pratt.
Kaijah, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
From the years of 2014-2017, I attended undergraduate college at Texas Southern University to obtain my Bachelor of Science. Although I was there in hopes of becoming strictly a doctor, I did a lot of eyebrows and eyelashes to make ends meet. Over time, my skills had grown and I started to love the beauty field just as much as medicine! The idea to start my own medical spa business came about three years ago in a conversation with one of my mentors. Since then, I have been working diligently to create awareness of my brand. Currently, I am still in school online to pursue my degree in medicine so that I can broaden my range of services (botox, laser hair removal, etc.).
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been an easy journey as I have made several mistakes, and even lacked on some of my school work. However, I never quit and eventually created the perfect work/school balance. I would like the world to know that you can do whatever you put your mind to. Divine purpose is real, things may not happen exactly when you want it but it WILL happen as long as you put in the proper amount of effort!
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Bae Kai Aesthetics, we provide a multitude of services such as body waxing, facial treatments, semi-permanent eyebrows, eyelash extensions, teeth whitening, yoni steams and more. My brand is special because we cater to all ethnicities and skin types. Every client is given a safe space to unwind and be themselves. There are plenty of amazing estheticians doing exactly what I do, but what sets me apart is that I still am pursuing my degree in medicine. While most go on to pay medical professionals to upgrade their spas to a medical facility, I will be able to do so on my own. I take pride in the fact that I was able to accept my love for two different fields (beauty and science), then find a way to combine them.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Giving back to the communities that once served me is what matters most.
Porschae Samuels, CEO of Milan Luxury MedSpa has contributed A LOT to my success throughout the years. After expressing to her my life aspirations, she immediately took me underneath her wing. Not only has she taught me almost everything that I know, but also allowed me to work in her shop to sharpen those skills. Porschae has been nothing less of a blessing in my life! I am forever grateful to have met someone who serves as a true mentor without any gatekeeping.
Also, I would like to give a huge shoutout to TCP Beauty and Barber College. Thank you, Ms. Theresa and staff for all that you do! A handful of my networking opportunities were made through this program.
