Conversations with Emily Sinh

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Sinh.

Emily, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Growing up in a first-generation Asian American household, I’ve always found myself internally struggling to pursue my dreams or follow my parent’s wishes. Unfortunately, being the eldest, I felt that I had the responsibility to take care of and provide for my family. As much as I wanted to pursue a career in arts or photography, that wasn’t much of an option as they had instilled in me the value and sacrifices they had made to give their children a better opportunity in the states. I also did not want to disappoint my parents. As a result, I ended up pursuing a path in supply chain, but it was only in the last few years I felt that I had the courage to start pursuing things for myself, such as travel and food, which are what my page is mostly focused on. In recent years, there have been so many people that have been in my shoes, inspiring me every day that it’s ok to be who I want to be, as the saying goes, better late than never. Every day can still be a struggle as I question if I can even do this. So while it was difficult to go against the grain and against my parents’ expectations, It has been one of the best decisions I have made. Recently, there has been an unforeseen change in my life, which hopefully will allow me to have more time to pursue content creation.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been smooth sailing, even to this day I find myself constantly questioning if I’m doing enough or if my content is even good enough. Honestly, I feel that you will always be compared to someone else, whether it’s looks, content, or number of followers. I think as I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned to appreciate the smaller things in life and am able to pull myself back to look at the bigger picture. Why I’m even doing this in the first place, to share my love for food and travel with the world. In the last few months, another thing I’ve been struggling with is finding my creative side again, finding the right angle, color scheme or layout. As much as I enjoy doing this, it can be challenging when there are times when the drive isn’t there as it used to be. But despite the struggles, I persevere because food and travel are truly my passions.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am in the logistic field. I do my best to balance out my day job with my passion role. I carve out the time to visit new restaurants and hot spots to create content for my IG and TikTok. As the saying goes, if you do something you love, you won’t feel like you’ve worked. Most of the time, when I create content, it fuels me to keep going and never feels like work. So that definitely helps with my content creation. One thing I want to be known for is my goal to share my love for food and travel to the world. There’s so much to see and do. I’m just one person trying to share that with this vast world in the best way that I can. I’ve also been working on another passion project of mine and hoping to launch it sometime this year. Please stay tuned for more details to come!

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
One piece of advice I would give is to stay persistent, there are times when things don’t go your way or don’t produce the results you expected but if you stay persistent, your hard work and efforts will find success.
