Today we’d like to introduce you to Tasha Daniels.
Hi Tasha, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started out in Florida, and in 2019 I launched my natural hair care brand Coily Products. I was mainly making sales at the local flea market; it was a slow process, but it eventually took off, and then COVID hit. Once covid hit I had to stop going to the flea markets and I attempted online sales, but it just didn’t work for me. I stepped away from the products and began to focus on my career in the insurance field. Between then and now, I came to see that working for a captive company with corporate higher-ups was just not for me. I felt like they realized my worth but didn’t support me in reaching my potential. I worked on cultivating my skills in the hair industry and started doing locs. Using my knowledge of natural hair care, and my sales and marketing background and put them to work to build my own business. I am now a full-time mompreneur! I am an independent Life Insurance Agent, I am the author of Marketing on a Budget, and I own and fully operate CP Beauty Studios! I am fully my ancestor’s wildest dreams!!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I am balancing two businesses, two boys, and type one diabetes this road has been as bumpy as the roads here in Houston! I can honestly say I have overcome lots of obstacles, I still have some obstacles but my struggles now are nowhere near as bad as the struggles I had before! My product line developed from one of my biggest obstacles, which was being in a homeless shelter with two children and working 2-3 jobs at a time! (I have always been a fan of multiple streams of income) At the time I had a need to do something about my hair, and not being able to go to a salon to get the treatments that I needed. So I began researching and making my own deep conditioners, gel, leave-in conditioner, detangler, etc.
As hard as that time was, I am to the point where I can say I am so thankful for it because I never would have launched my own business, and wouldn’t have been able to experience all of the successes and wins that I am now!
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about CP Beauty Studios?
CP Beauty Studios is my third child! I have built and cultivated a brand that allows people to gain knowledge on natural hair and relearn how to love their crowns. I specialize in Loc love, I offer mini locs, steams, detoxes, etc. What sets me apart from others is the way I educate people, when you come into my studio, it’s not just a new hairdo, you leave knowing how to take care of your hair and gaining a new love and understanding for it. The thing that makes me the proudest of my business is the fact that I have taken all of my previous employment knowledge and I have used it to build my own business. From sales knowledge to marketing strategies to how to obtain and retain clients! I am a beast at what I do, and I have gotten to the point that what I have done is something that others can learn, and it is something that I have put into Marketing on a budget, the e-book, for others to learn and replicate. The best part about what I have created is something that is affordable for the everyday person. I see so many books and courses that are such a high ticket offer that the everyday mom can’t afford to buy in to learn how to pull themselves out of their adversities! My goal with the eBook was to make it obtainable for others and I achieved that!
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
My hustle and anything-is-possible mentality are what is most important to my success. If it wasn’t for my ambition and the way I am able to outwork anyone, my work ethic is insane! in the past, I was balancing three jobs, the boys and college, before I separated from the original insurance job I was working 9-6 and then taking loc clients all night. Even now, even though I am closing in on my end goal, I am still up until 12 a.m., sometimes one a.m., doing hair. I have big goals and being complacent isn’t going to get me there!
