Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Lindemann.
Hi Amy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always loved photography. Growing up I dabbled with it here and there and then I watched as my sister-in-law grew her photography business and was so inspired by that so I took a leap. I started my business in 2019 and it’s been amazing to see the growth. I’ve always wanted it to feel fun and never like an actual job, it’s definitely more of an ongoing passion project.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Oh no. Definitely not a smooth road. It’s a hard balance between being a full time mom and doing photography. Weddings are so time-consuming and mom guilt creeps in. But I know I have an amazing support system and that has helped immensely. I also struggle a ton with comparing myself to other photographers. It’s so easy to get caught up in the number of followers, likes and the whole social media aspect although that doesn’t equate to business success necessarily. It’s been an ongoing thing, just trying to stay in my own lane and forge my own path.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I love shooting weddings. Each wedding day is so unique and special and I love the rush. With each session and each wedding day, I focus on the client’s experience and make their time in front of my camera as comfortable and fun as possible. I also love a good challenge like rainy day weddings. I’m so proud of the connections I’ve made with my clients. It really shows that they value me and my work when they continue to choose me for their photography needs after their wedding day.
I really try to focus on capturing the emotion and small details. Since becoming a mom, I realize it’s not all about the smiling posed pictures. That’s not what people remember. You want to remember the laughs, the tears and everything in between and to me, that’s what photography is all about.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was super active and loved cheerleading. I always joke with my couples that I’ll use my cheerleader voice if I have to get their attention. I’ve always been super family oriented and grew up hunting and running around with my two older brothers.
