Meet Amanda Choe of BeGreat Enterprises – BGE4U

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Choe.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Let me introduce myself. I’m Amanda, a born and raised Wisconsinite now residing in the great state of Texas since 2017.

My mother always told me, “If you want something, you have to work for it.” If I  wanted expensive name-brand clothes, I needed to buy them. If I wanted fancy shampoo, I needed to buy it. If I wanted a cell phone, I had to pay the bill. So,  that is exactly what I did. I started working when I was 14 years old and never stopped.

In my early years of working, I worked in the restaurant industry. When I turned  18, I started working at a senior living community as a caregiver. I worked at the same senior living community for almost five years until I decided to leave. I  became remarkably close to one of the residents and her family. I found it exceedingly difficult to keep working there when she passed away. I decided to put in my notice and find work elsewhere.

Five minutes from my house, I obtained a job at a community called Emerald  Ridge Assisted Living managed by BAKA Enterprises, Inc. I quickly worked my way up the ladder and in ten months, I went from a caregiver to an Executive  Director with the dual role of being my own Marketing Director. I will forever be grateful to BAKA for giving me the opportunity I was looking for. For 10 years, I  specialized in being an Executive Director and Marketing Director for senior living communities.

I started BeGreat Enterprises in August 2021 after seeing a colleague post,  “Business idea…someone should start a virtual assistant business. We pay you to  do our work.” I immediately thought to myself, “I’ve been doing other people’s work my entire life. This is a no-brainer.” I didn’t know exactly what a virtual assistant entailed but I had a general idea. After doing a little bit of research, I  bought a business license, created a website, and was fully up and running as a  business owner in three weeks.

Growing up we didn’t have much as kids. There’s a saying that goes, “when you  come from nothing, you want everything.” That is where BeGreat Enterprises comes from. I strive to be great at everything I do or at least be better than I was before because at the beginning and end of every day, I am trying to make it like everyone else. Most importantly, I am trying to make that little dash on my tombstone mean something.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
To be honest, the road has not been that difficult. I am such a determined person that I am willing to do everything and anything to succeed.

If I had to pick something as a challenge, I would say work/life balance. When you’re a business owner, there is always something to do. There is always something you could be learning. There is always something you can be adding to advance your business. Your mind is constantly racing and anything outside of the business doesn’t become as important.

When it comes to my daughter, she is always important and the first priority but when it comes to friends and hanging out, those things tend to get pushed aside. Do I want to go out and spend money or do I want to make money? Do I want to sit on the phone and talk or could I be working making money?

There is some balance. Could I have more? Sure, but my empire isn’t going to build itself either.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
