Daily Inspiration: Meet Constance Iyamu

Today we’d like to introduce you to Constance Iyamu.

Hi Constance, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
At the age of 3, being an immigrant in this country and seeing how my parents ensured we had the best in life, and raising 5 children from the streets of Harlem and then to the suburbs of Sugarland I grew up believing anything is possible.

As a mom and educator, I knew I wanted more for my children and mostly importantly myself. So during covid, I started my brand NaijaKhloe. I wanted to create a space where I can show women and moms how to take care of themselves mentally physically and spiritually through our everyday walk of life on my YouTube channel.

In 2021 I opened my online boutique called NaijaKhloeKhloset. NaijaKhloe Khloset started as a dream and vision as a mom and woman walking in her purpose who was looking for affordable clothing for the everyday woman. Our motto is “where Khlassy meets Khomfy”. Our pieces are meant to take you from running errands to a night out with the girls.

I am hoping I can be an example to my girls and anyone who, despite their humble beginnings, followed their dreams with hope and God by their side.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Without trials, there can’t be testimonies. One of the biggest hurdles along my journey to find myself and my purpose was when I battled with post-partum depression after both of my births.

I lost my sense of focus, my sense of who I was, and that was also around the time covid hit. My partner was not working as much and our finances hit rock bottom, living paycheck to paycheck with 2 kids, and imagine I was battling my own mental demons.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I knew my purpose was to help others and I knew my purpose was to uplift other women like myself so I used the talents God gave me which are speaking and my love for fashion and planning/organizing to create my platform NaijaKhloe.

I represent the everyday women who may not always have all the answers but keeps going and gets her strength by joy of seeing others smile. She is a trendsetter in her own way. The NaijaKhloe brand encourages self-care, self-love, and most especially, gratitude attitude.

What sets me apart is I’ve seen death but chose LIFE.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I have anxiety and feel the most uncomfortable with large crowds of people I know.
