Conversations with Delonda Ford

Today we’d like to introduce you to Delonda Ford.

Hi Delonda, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I purchased a Cricut cutting machine for my daughters for Christmas in 2020. To my surprise, they weren’t interested. By the time they opened the box, it was too late to return it, so I decided that I would learn everything I could about how to use it. After sharing a few of my creations on Facebook with my friends and family, one of my friends encouraged me to start a YouTube channel. I started the channel in March of 2021 and I just reached 50k subscribers! The rest is history.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It was slow going at first, but after reaching 1k subscribers, it has been smooth sailing. The biggest struggle is balancing my time in all of the most important roles that I have.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am currently in my 25th year in public education. I was a teacher for more than 13 years and I have been serving as an elementary school Assistant Principal for the past 12 years.

I am proud of the work I have done in my district, proud that all of my children have graduated with top honors, and I am honored to work with an amazing group of professionals.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
One person who deserves credit is my grandmother. She taught me the value of education and she instilled a strong work ethic in me. She passed away in 2001.

My husband is my best friend and biggest supporter.

My children have also encouraged me and they always let me know how they look up to me.
