Today we’d like to introduce you to Lorena Zambrano.
Hi Lorena, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My dream growing up was to be an interior designer. Fresh out of high school, I asked my father for a summer job in his company and started working for him. I immediately became intrigued of how much interior design is involved in aviation upholstery. Time just kept going and next thing you know, I stayed and have been working here for nearly 23 years. I am very passionate about making sure the design of the interior accommodates to what our customers are striving for. I took over the company in 2016 and my father is still very involved in the everyday operations as well.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The aviation sector is an industry that is predominantly male, so I have had a few struggles. Mainly with customers of a certain age. I would try to help answer any questions that they had etc., and I would get responses that “I did not know what I was talking about because I was a female.” Another was starting at such a young age. I was always the young one everywhere I went.
As you know, we’re big fans of AeroPlus Interiors. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
We specialize in private and corporate aviation interior refurbishment. We are a Certified FAA Certified Repair Station. Have been in business for 31 years.
Family owned and operated. We treat our employees and customers like family. Pay attention to every detail to make sure our customers are 100% satisfied.
What are your plans for the future?
We moved to the Hobby Airport about two years ago. I would like to see our clientele base grow. We do not say to any size job but would like to see us working on medium to larger size jets a bit more.
I would also like to bring in more aircraft from Mexico for all their aircraft interior needs.
