Today we’d like to introduce you to Jo Anne Johnson.
Hi Jo Anne, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
In late 2007, I obtained my real estate license to be a part-time assistant to a Realtor in The Woodlands since my youngest was starting a Mother’s Day Program in the Fall. In the process, my friends started becoming the biggest megaphones and received opportunities through my sphere to help sellers and buyers. I had no plan of becoming a Realtor, let alone working full-time, and was in a bit of denial about what I had gotten myself into, but realized I had a passion for serving others and helping them achieve great success with real estate investments. It was a snowball effect and by my 3rd year, my husband helped me hire my 1st team member. By the end of my 5th year, I had 2 full-time employees, and brought on my 1st Buyers Agent. 15 years later, I’m very blessed to have a business that organically grew by referrals, and remains the lifeblood of our business today. I’ve built a team of professionals dedicated to going the extra mile in delivering unparalleled service and expert guidance our clients can count on. While we consistently rank as a Top 25 Real Estate Team in all of Houston for nearly a decade, we humbly note that we serve at the pleasure of our clients. And it shows!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Oh gosh, no! LOL Again, I had no plans of becoming a Realtor per se, let alone working full-time. As business came in, I had to develop a home plan “on the fly” around serving/meeting clients when it was convenient for their schedules. My husband was hugely supportive, and it became apparent that I had to be a wicked time manager – very intentional about processes, time-blocking, increasing efficiencies, and ultimately, learning to leverage and delegate. All have been rewarding, but not without its scrapes and bruises! 😉
As you know, we’re big fans of Jo Anne Johnson Real Estate Group. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
We specialize in residential real estate in The Woodlands and the surrounding area. Almost 90% of our business is comprised of past clients and referrals, and we are eager to deliver a 5-Star experience to our clients, showcasing expertise in the market, keen negotiation skills, and helping them move forward with the greatest success!
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I would encourage any new Realtor to find a mentor in the industry, most certainly. It’s important to create systems/structures that enable one to deliver consistent, reliable service, as well as hone in on competencies that make you stand out as an expert.
