Today we’d like to introduce you to Natasha Philpot.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
“Oh wow, this is beautiful… Who decorated your house?!” This is a question that I have been asked often as people entered either of the four homes that I custom-built and decorated. My response has always been, “Thank you; I decorated it”.
Interior decorating is and has been my passion since the time I was a graduate student living in my first apartment. I went on to earn a master’s degree in Human Resources Management … taking in HGTV, giving furniture new life, and shopping for décor on a student’s budget to wind down between studies. My interest and expertise in interior decorating continued to develop over the next twenty years throughout my corporate career. I was fortunate to travel the world and experience the beautiful architecture, colors, and patterns of many cultures. These influences inspired my imagination for creating eclectic and regal interior spaces.
For decades, I have been called upon by friends, family members, realtors, and just about everyone in between for decorating help. The global pandemic prompted me to reevaluate life and the positive impact that I desire to have in the lives of others. From that was born Pretty Regal.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, the road has not been smooth; however, I’m encountering new opportunities to learn and pivot on a regular basis. This gives me energy as I’m a self-proclaimed “nerd” and natural problem solver. My greatest challenge to date has been asking people to support my business. I have always been very independent and in the practice of helping others, but when it comes to asking for help, I freeze. What I have learned quickly is that it takes a team to build a business. No one can do it alone. Business success requires being vulnerable, to some extent, and asking for what you want and need.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

Staging for Homes/Short-Term Rentals
Pretty Regal is an accredited staging professional firm, preparing properties to sell faster and for more money than un-staged homes listed for sale. The difference between staging and decorating is that decorating personalizes a property for the client’s use and enjoyment. In staging, our goal is to highlight the best features of the property by de-personalizing to appeal to the broadest pool of potential buyers.
Pretty Regal stands out for two reasons, 1) Our unmistakable regal flare. Scale is key, we usually include at least a few larger scale accessories in each design and we always include a bit of color, even if it’s understated. A lot of people are afraid to experiment with color in the home; however, once we get to work in the space, they realize that just a little bit goes a long way in creating a mood for the perfect abode. 2) Pretty Regal is led by a former corporate executive who prioritizes professionalism and efficiency. Client satisfaction is the measure of success for every project; exceeding our client’s expectations is our greatest reward.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I took the biggest risk of my life thus far when I resigned from my job as a corporate Human Resources executive and pursued my passion in interior decorating. Creating beautiful, unique, spaces has always come naturally for me. When I left my job, I obtained credentials as a Certified Interior Decorator (C.I.D.®) and an Accredited Staging Professional (ASP®) to cement my standing as an Interior Style Expert and then I launched Pretty Regal.
Embarking on this entrepreneurial journey has most definitely been a leap of faith for me; however, I believe that nothing worth having comes easily and with little risk, there is little reward. When it comes to investing in the stock market, I’m relatively risk-averse. When it comes to betting on me, my faith, and my drive to succeed, I’ll push the limits every opportunity that I get.
