Conversations with Tyesha Courtney

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyesha Courtney.

Hi Tyesha, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Tyesha Moniquè. I started my influencer journey the beginning of this year of 2022. A few of my pictures went viral which caused me to gain thousands of followers, and then I decided to take my journey seriously. I started to have brand deals and promotions. I’m still currently working and elevating in my career. 2023 will most definitely be my year, and I have so many things in-store for my career. I can’t wait to show and make more things happen. I can’t wait to work with bigger brands and show off more of my talent.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Becoming an influencer the journey hasn’t been easy as I thought it’ll be. I feel as if it’s harder for brown skin/dark skin girls in this industry! There are days when my page do crazy numbers and they’re days were my page doesn’t do as good! You have to keep going no matter what! I lost my page for almost a week, which was devastating I cannot imagine having to start over when I built myself up alone. Sometimes I receive hate comments in my comments under my post or in my DMs, even when I go live sometimes from fake pages. I feel as if you have to be strong and ready for anything literally when it comes to social media! It’s most definitely not for the weak.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a travelling makeup artist. I currently reside In Colorado, I specialize in natural glam makeup. I’m known for multiple things in my hometown (Baton Rouge, Louisiana)! Makeup, hair, and also from instagram. I’m most proud of being so talented! I feel as if it’s nothing that I cannot do. I do my own hair, nails, and makeup. I’m amazed at how much I’ve grown and how good I am at what I do.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Being successful matters most to me. I want to be able to show that anything you put your mind to, you can do it! No matter how small or big! I want to represent for my black females because I feel like it’s harder for us in this industry. Sometimes our skin may not be light enough, straight enough or curly enough. I want to show that is it possible for us! I want to represent natural bodies during this time I feel like girls maybe think their bodies are not perfect because they don’t have a bbl or plastic surgery because, of how popular it is on social media. When in reality, you’re winning babe! You are beautiful the way you are!
